Rent able Lift in NoVA
Does anyone have a rentable lift or know of one. I remember there used to be a shop in sterling that rented out lifts for a flat fee...as the parts come in (tbe, fmic, etc), the lift would make everything so much freaking easier. Also, I'm coming from the Subaru game to.BMWs, and loving it.

If you're military you can go to Ft Myer, Ft Belvoir, etc and use their auto hobby shop. It's on a first come first serve basis though. They have lifts and tools you can use. I believe it's like $4-$5 a hour.

I don't know if he's up for it, and the drive is a bit far from Nova, but PM Clem. He has a lift in his garage. You can ask him what his rate would be. He is usually the one that does the work, though.

Sports car inc in sterling va. You pay $20 a month for membership and once a member it's 12.50 an hour for the lift and any tools. They also have alignment rack.

Military bases allow civilian federal employees to use shops. I always use the one at Pax River. 8 lifts and any tool you can think of. 7.50/hr for civilians.

I think you have to be a DOD civilian employee with a valid military (civilian) ID card. I think it also depends on what the base commander approves DOD civilian employees to use, as in some bases only allow active duty/retired to use their services and civilian employees are excluded. Case in point is MCB Quantico where the DOD civilians I worked with were not permitted to use the Base Exchange, Commissary, etc. Having a CAC Card helps. But go ahead and try, the worst they can do is deny you access and turn you around at the gate.

I work for the civillian gov't and used to go to Ft Belvoir to use their lift all the time. It was like $5/hr and you get to use all their power tools. Cityazndan- can you please report your findings back to us? I'd love to take advantage of the gym at Ft Myer.

Sure thing, once I get my parts. What dept do you work in? Did you enter thru the main entrance without prior appointment? Edit: looks like the fitness center is still DoD restricted. |

Weekends are busy at Ft. Belvoir and likely every place else. It's hard to get a lift. Basically, you have to show up well before they open or be able to wait for quite a while. DoD installations may also require you to take a safety course which includes a video and test. It only takes maybe 45 minutes to work through.

Haha well I get Fridays off so I was hoping to go then. Are you a civilian federal employee? Ft. Myer is technically closer but belvoir isn't too much further away.

I'm in 3637, the military base would be nice for easier parts. I will highly recommend taking it out to see Clem if you aren't set on diy for the downpipes / fmic, with these cars there is always a trick or two to get these parts on

I did PM Clem as a matter of fact. I'm coming from a Subaru so I'm used to doing everything by myself. |
