Hi all,

This was a couple of weeks ago:

Took my car to the dealer as one day (after raining all night) there is water coming in from the upper console - not the sunroof, but where the actual sunroof buttons are located - and water from the plastic light cover.

So days go by, I went to pick up my car from the dealer, and I was in a hurry as I had to get to the airport, so I did NOT do the walk-around that I normally do. I did notice notice that all they did was try to clean the water spots on the headliner around the upper console, but there are still very evident water stains/marks. <--this is not the BAD part.

I arrived at the airport and decided to have a cigarette after I parked. I proceeded to walk-around the car...and WOW!! The clear coat is all peeling off on my aftermarket wheels (it looks like curb rash, but it is not) I called the dealer right away, I tell my service advisor about it, and go on to tell him that what probably happened is that the guys who detail the vehicles prior to them being picked up by the owner must have left cleaner on the rims too long or used something they should nto have. He proceeds to tell me that he knows my car, knows the rims, knows they were fine when the car came in, and will have them fixed.

I was in Montreal for about 1 week (he knew this) I get back, wait 3 days, keep calling him back, but he is never there. Finally I get a call from another advisor saying my orginal advisor is no longer with BMW. Ok, so I go over the rim issue (and others: engine ticking, headliner damage, transmission sounds) with him, and he tells me to bring the car in.

I have been complaining of the ticking/knocking noise for quite sometime now, and now I am also complaining about a transmission noise. the new advisor (who has been great so far) tells me one of the foreman will drive the car home for a couple of days.
Well sure enough, the foreman hears these sounds, and now they are replacing the transmission, and they are replacing the hydralic lifters for the ticking issue.

But they are NOT going to fix my rims - but will only charge me cost to fix them

I tell them I have a video of me doing a walk around and it clearly shows my rims are fine - he said send it to them and maybe it will change their mind (now to be honest, the video is not super clear, but you can see there is no damage) so I am thinking they are not going to own up to it no matter what I do. So I tell him that the service advisor who left or got fired said he would ahve them fixed, and he knew my car etc. (I had already mentioned this to the new advisor before, but was refreshing his memory as I cannot beleive they are not going to take responsibity for this)

Also, they will only clean, and not replace the head liner - before you think it was due to the roof being open, it is clearly evident it was not as there is no water damage around sunroof area, and I showed them pics of the water leaking from the upper console - not the sunroof.

Any advise ?

Call the service manager, explain that the old service advisor said he inspected them personally. Since te service advisor is the guy who inspects the car when it comes in and he is no longer there, its there problem and they should take full responsibility since nobody can say they were damaged before hand. You should send them the video an even have the ild service advisor write you an email explaining what happened if you can get in touch with him.

+1 and if that does not work, what I do when the dealer F'ed up my car and wouldn't fix it was to send an e-mail to BMW Canada, and they got a hold of the dealer and made them fix everything to my approval.

Good luck!

Wait they are replacing your entire transmission and head?!? I dunno isn't it like 150 to repair a rim, I would say you are still doing pretty good!

Post pics of the damage!

What type of transmission noises where you hearing? My transmission is incredibly notchy between 1st and 3rd even after a fluid swap. What did you say specifically to get them to swap your whole transmission?!?!

They said they would give me cost price to repair: $110 a rim... it has nothing to do with the money. Why would I pay even $5?

How I am doing good? They are repairing issues under warranty - which has nothing to do with the rims the wrecked.

I had them drive it home for 3 days to prove there was trans and engine noise.

I'm pretty sure they have a recording system for their phone calls. If you can tell them the date and roughly the time you called in they can pull up that information.
The company i work for has the same thing
Call BMW Canada to get it sorted out

I NEVER let the dealership wash my car anymore..I made them pay to get my car wet sanded/polished after they scratched the crap out of it after washing it with what must have been a "sandpaper sponge"!!. Anyways, they are responsible for damage caused by their employees, legally they have to pay for it. Go after bmw canada, they should sort this out.
