disable voice control
I am building a car pc which uses the steering wheel inputs for navigation. I rarely ever use the voice control feature of my car, so I was hoping to disable it so I could map this steering wheel button to my car pc instead.
Unfortunately, I have not had much success in doing so. I have already done the following: 1 - using NCS Expert, I've deleted VO $620 from the CAS and FRM and NFRM ECU modules 2 - using NCS Expert, I've set "SVS" to "nicht_aktiv" in the CAPPL module Everything I've found on the net is instructions to do the opposite, adding this feature to the car - and most people get stuck with needing the FSC code to enable the feature. It appears my car already has this FSC code - is it possible for me to extract my FSC code for safe keeping (in case I ever want to re-enable voice control) and then overwrite(?) it with an "invalid" FSC code to temporarily disable my voice control? Can someone suggest another safe-ish option for me to temporarily disable this feature in my car? I have a 4/2006 production date E90... |

... and a couple years on again, I have the same question for the same reason; want to use the voice control button to activate an MMI without activating the CIC voice control :-(
Has anyone managed to do this? |

Im no expert but imagine that removing a feature is the same as adding one.
Change VO; delete the code Then you have to write the VO to cas and FRM Default code the module.... in this case ccc or cic ...

Per my post above. It's easy to code out.

NCS Expert profile without manipulation. Load your FA/VO, delete your $620 save the new FA/VO to CAS and FRM (NFRM) using FA_WRITE.* Then default code run SG_CODIEREN on your CCC or CIC. Last edited by TSilver335i; 02-02-2022 at 03:08 PM.. |

I'm having the same issues. For some reason even though voice control is disabled in coding via removal of the voice control option from the FA and default coding CCC modules (and changes are confirmed by reading back the trace files in manipulation mode) pressing the voice button on the steering wheel still triggers the useless BMW voice control.
Is there any other way to deactivate this? I find it interesting that if you retrofit a different unit you need an FSC to enable voice control, yet I cannot deactivate it on my factory fit CCC. If it's possible to "erase" or somehow invalidate the FSC I'd be more than happy, as I find the factory voice control completely useless and therefore I have no reason to ever want to re-enable it. I have an Apple CarPlay unit in my car which uses the voice control button to activate Siri, but the BMW voiceover is interfering with my use of Siri. |

same. E60 here with retrofitted CIC and combox. I have Android now and want to use ONLY Google Assistant
![]() Removed 620 from VO and wrote to the car. Also set SVS to "nicht_aktiv". I still get BMW assistant when pressing the button but now it seems to be the old one from 2004 (??). I guess there is still something somewhere else... |

MIne is off now 100%. Short press Google Assistant, long press Google Maps
BMW E60 retrofitted CIC with Combox - Removed 620 from VO (FA in German) and wrote to CAS - SVS to "nicht-aktiv" in CIC - SVS (only entry that included SVS) to "nicht_aktiv" in Media (combox) Now there is silence from my stupid 2004/2011 BMW assistant :-) |

Thanks for the guide! Placing a reminder here:
Operation is FA_WRITE (not regular SG_CODIEREN) Quote:
At last BMW Assistant is dead and single Siri is working via wheel button. |

Hi all,
Also trying to disable 'Voice Command' from my E71 2008. I am using ProTool by bimmergeeks and connect to the car via the bimmergeeks Bluetooth adapter. I have removed it, pressed 'recode' the CCC reboots, I lock the car and 1 hour later the 'Voice Command' is still there. I have tried the same procedure numerous times with the guidance of bimmergeeks but they gave up eventually as they do not know what is wrong. They explained that I have to add option 620 back to the VO and save, but not proceed with recode. Then I remove it again, save and recode. Recode involves changes in 4 control units:
This procedure I recorded in this video: When it was not giving us the desired result, they also asked me to check for SVS (Voice Recognition) in 'Radio System' and make sure it is Disabled, which it was. see below. After that they could not help further. The recode procedure throws up one error. I get E70-ULF2MOST.C13 which is the exact error I get when I try to enter coding for TELEMATICS (ISPB). I asked about this error but received no reason why it is happening as of yet. I am of the impression that since I cannot enter the coding for TELEMATICS (ISPB) which is a control unit containing options that need to be removed/disabled, it stands to reason that these options remain after recode, thus leaving parts of $620 enabled. Can you help possibly? Last edited by conandrum; 02-22-2025 at 04:16 AM.. |
