Polyurethane LIP for LCI MTECH E90
I recently tore off my lip at a track event.
dug into the dirt and, "bye, bye!" lip n splitter. This is now the second/third time i've replaced the lip. Went to Long to get a replacement and sure enough mod father pulls out an mtech front bumper with a polyurethane lip attached to it - wah, PU?! "Hey i have a new lip from vollkommen designs, wanna road test it?" Vollkommen? I was looking at the production piece and fitment was spot on, material was polyurethane!, the flex was incredible, felt very durable and light. I was game, hell yah, i'll road test it. The install took me 10min, no joke. double sided tape on the lower inner mouth, 6 self taping screws on the bottom - done. The piece is so light, and flexible. previous design, it took some work. - The alignment of the lower mouth would need to be messed with for perfect fitment. If you didn't take it to a shop that knew how to install it, that portion would have a gap or lift higher above the mtech mouth. I've gone through 3 lips already from different vendors and I like the PU version and fitment from this lip. I like to say this is very DIY friendly. So far on the freeway no flapping at high speeds. Also because it's PU no worries with rock chips - PU makes such a difference. I took some picts, don't mind my front bumper, paint is scuff'd up from the track, I need to repair it. here's the lip fitment looks great even on my recently abused front bumper. this area usually can be problematic if not installed correctly - with this lip it went on clean - the PU helps because of the flex. from a far u can notice slight damage from my mtech on the left, paint scratches. even further. - best part, don't have to worry bout rock chips, bounces right off. My first lip turn'd into swiss cheese in less than 2 month from daily driving. thanks Mod Father

no, its just mtech.
OP, is it me or does that just look like the exotic tuning lip? maybe the front portions are a little more pronounced?

if its lighter then its probably a rep of the Exotics Tuning lip which was heft in weight (for a lip) and was not very flexible. If this is indeed PU and flexible then its a good thing!

wha?? M3 rep - nah.
it's mtech bumper. Quote:
yes they are new. I don't know pricing, when the modfather offers a lip to test out, i can't refuse. it's pu and fits well. i can imagine u can hit up the LongTran. modfather got this test piece for me. Don't know if it's done with it's test phase yet. Quote:
with the CF there are times with the lower mtech mouth the lip will separate because of dd or abusive driving. At the track my lip would always shift, even with double sided tape. The CF is rigid and because of minimal flex the lip will slip and will leave a gap in fitment. It's not the end of the world but that's the nature of a rigid thin material lip. // Quote:
sorry maple - i've been off the forum, i'm usually more active. i still need to do repairs to my front bumper from the last track event. i lost my underbelly, both my fender linears rip'd off, my front bumper almost rip'd off. my previous lip and splitter destroy'd. i've been busy with 2 other project bimmers (e30 and e46 wagon). yes i have excuses. i don't know if it's available yet - i don't even know where Long Tran got it from. and i finally responded to them. thanks for call'n me young lad, makes me feel better bout my age. shhh!!! don't tell anyone.. i'll to keep current on the thread.

Good stuff Franki.
I thought LTBMW stopped selling these lips a while ago. They had a for sale thread in the vendor section, but it dried up. If you go to their open house hit up Long for some info and report back - I can't get them to respond to PM's, e-mail or answer their phones. I got my new replacement FRP CF lip today, but something tells me I may need to replace it again, but if I do it iwll be with a poly version (if available). Thanks |

I just picked one up today from LTBMW. Unfortunately for me I had a horrible time trying to install this, lol. Maybe I'll try again or just have LTBMW do it. price was $400
