Get the E91 328Xi and you'll have the perfect compromise -only much much more fun to drive then the LR2/

wow that is tough. I mean choosing between 2 cars in the same class is already difficult but this definitely takes the cake.

I think the rising gas prices you should consider a 328 XI like SKA's suggested.

x2...Seriously, what's up with all these, "what car should I buy" threads? This isn't even a close comparison. You need to sit down and think about what YOU want. Nobody on this forum can help you decide between those two cars.

We have an LR3 and and an E90. I love both of them, as they serve very different purposes. The LR2 will obviously give you more utility, especially if your into the outdoors, and hauling stuff around. However, if we're running around, or going out, I always choose the Bimmer, it's just a ball to drive.

Really it depends on what your going to use it for. If you don't think you can live with out an SUV, get the LR2. Otherwise, you can never go wrong with a Bimmer.

good analogy to the OP's question tho. it would make a good SAT question:

Find the correct matching pairs:
a) BMW 328i : Landrover LR2 :: VW Prius : Hummer H2

I say definately go for the BMW 328Xi. If you get the Landrover LR2 you will constantly be kicking yourself for not getting something more sporting. That will happen EVERY DAY as you drive the LR2.

If you get a E90 or E91 BMW 328Xi, it will only be on that rare occasion that you want to go offroad that you will kick yourself. Likely only 2x a month...if even that.

I say kick yourself less. Get the BMW.

VW Prius...that's an interesting one

Anyway, interesting where this threads going...go with your needs. If you even thought about getting an LR2, clearly you probably had some need for utility and hauling things, but if you can get by with the 328i, I'd say spring for that instead. You'll be much happier.
