E93 2007 Pre-Production Vehicles

Can someone shed some light on a question or two for me please?

What is the difference(s) between a production and preproduction vehicle, specifially, if anyone knows specifics/references as the actual differences for the e93 335?

My car appears to be missing cup holders in the rear centre console.

Do 19 inch rims/rft come with TPM in canada???

I don't believe Canadian spec E92/E93 have TPMS on the rims. The TPM uses the ABS sensors like on the E90/E91. As for your cupholders I can't comment.

Don't think anyone would know that. Preproduction cars probably do not have a list of things excluded or extra things included that are not in the production car.

I would imagine it would even vary from day to day in preproduction builds. If the part in not on hand they might build it with out it one day and the next day they might have the part and it is included. I'm surprised that you were able to buy a preproduction car. I'm guessing it was 98% as close to production so they decided to sell it. I guess your missing rear cup holders are part of the 2%.

I test drove a pre-production E93 328 and 335. Both had cup holders (front and rear). Both had Premium Package as well and neither had the PASS THROUGH feature that was supposed to be included. Everything else looke as my May production E93 does.

Ok, the dummest question of all.......

I did not know E92's & E93's had cup holders in the back Where are they? Or is this only a E93 specific thing. I don't think my E92 has a cup holder in the back.... but then, I never sat there or inspected it closely.....Again, sorry about a silly question.

If I remember (since I don't often sit in the back seat

) my E92 has a storage tray where these cupholders are and you can buy an accessory cupholder/try to fit in there. Mine does have two cupholders that extend out of the fold down armrest.

All prototypes are destroyed and never sold. Car companies don't want to deal with the liability.

i think there may be a difference between "prototypes" and "preproduction" vehicles

Exactly - prototypes are NT pre-productioin. Pre-production is generally used to make sure all the kinks ar eout of the build process etc.

Kalch - unless there are differences between US and Canadian cars in this area you got screwed !! Even the pre-production I test drove (at the dealers) had the correct cup holder and tray arrangement - you do not !

meeting with appropriate individuals to discuss this situation, and hopefully resolve what happened and how I appear to have received this vehicle.

The lack of cup holders isn't really the issue was really what made me think this was a pre-prod, finally.

Initially, I thought because it was a 12/06 E93 production, was information enough to deduce it was pre-prod. I've heard that E93s were produced in December, but I may be wrong, and I know that someone with a 02/07 production does have cup holders in the back.

I haven't sen anyone, on any post, however, with a 12/06 or 01/07 E93 production, so my call out therefor anyone with a 12/06 or 01/07 production still stands?

Or if anyone, with confirmation, can proove to me that E93 production didn't start (for NA vehicles) until Feb 07
