The box is 10 hp = $280.00
The intake maybe 3hp BMW $735.00
RPI Scoops on a 328I $100.00
Performance Exhaust maybe 3 hp $1000.00 for E91

None worth the money for HP!

If you want it to sound better, get and intake and exhaust, it may not do much for the HP but the smile effect will increase by 100 points!

Here's the stark reality: you'd be way better off selling your 328 and buying a 335 of the same vintage and going from there. I know it's a PITA, but If you have any interest in tuning it makes sense.

They are designed to scoop the air in to the intake, I guess at speed it will put some pressure in the intake, I have them and I can't tell much difference in power! I may get to 150 mph a little faster!

Trade in 328i for 335i would be the best bang for buck.

performance mods on a 328 is pretty much useless. aside from a custom turbo or supercharger kit... but at that point you'd save more money and time switching to a 335.

imo, the only and best "performance mod" for a 328 owner is a legit driving school. a better driver in a 328 will clean up a 335 with a novice driver on the track.

Do the RPI scoops make much of a difference? or is it paired up with other mods you notice them.

Maybe a a faster pedal response over 60mph with the air being forced in the intake from the speed!

Box? Are you guys talking about the powerbox? That does nothing but give you Toyota pedal.
AA tune is about double the price and real dyno HP gains can be had. Still not worth it though.

He is right! Not to take anything away from you car, if you want to look the part then, keep the 328 but if you want to tune and enjoy modding the car then move on to a 335i! That would be your best bang for the buck... IMO

Yea, Powerbox. What's a Toyota pedal?
When Toyota had that issue where the gas pedal got stuck and kept on going.
It's a throttle hack. AA Tune puts measurable power into the band.

Yes. There's a big enough difference in hp and tq that you'll definitely notice the difference between the two.

The main difference between the 330 and the 328 is a 3 Stage Intake Manifold and of course it's tunning.

You can mod your 328i by installing a 3 Stage Intake manifold like the 330's. You will have to add a tune (either AA or BPC) to get the most out of the manifold swap ... basically turning your 328 into a 330 (with an additional bump in both hp and tq over a stock 330).

I have the 3IM and BPC tune in my 328 ... it made it perform like a totally different car ... Um yeah, a 330 - which was what I was searching for but they're not as easy to find as a 328. All in all it's much more fun to drive. It's a spendy mod ... but worth it. Other folks who have done it say the same thing.

It will cost about $325 - $400+ for the intake and another $675 or so for the BPC tune ... AA is in the mid $400's but you don't get a handheld flash tool and have to send them your ECU or pay to have an AA authorized tuner do it (to do it yourself like BPC ... it's an extra $225 or so for their flash cable ... better off going with BPC they have the best tune on the market at the moment). If you have an automatic trans ... BimmerGeeks can hook you up with a cable and programing and remote flash your transmission tune to a 330's which is said to add small amount of tq and change the shift points ... but unlike the ECU tune ... it's not necessary.

Check out the NA Engine (non-turbo) forum - there's lots of info on this subject.

Hope this helps as a start.
