Remote Window Roll Down Feature

Hello Everyone, I have a quick question about the remote window roll down feature. I have searched the forms but keep finding people asking how to make the windows roll back up and I am trying to figure out how to make them roll down. I know that on BMW's you can press and hold the unlock button and the windows / sunroof should fold and retract. I am wondering if this option is only available with certain packages or if it is an option on all BMW's? When I press and hold the unlock button on my e90 nothing happens and I was wondering if I can enable this feature some how? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

Nope, window roll-down is standard. Roll-up has to be coded at least for US-spec cars. The only cars I've found that don't roll down with the fob (even though the manual says they should) have been the E88 (1 Series cabrio) and E89 (Z4). Upon further investigation if memory serves, that feature only works on those cars if you have Comfort Access (or hack it a bit with coding, but even then it's not perfect), but on an E90 you should be able to do that with or without Comfort Access.

Rolling the windows down with the key fob has been standard for a while now. My 2000 E46 does it and so does my 09 E90. Tint may be messing up your key fob's accuracy but the problem is probably your key fob being damaged or broken (washer?). A new one will be pretty expensive too. I've heard around $250 from the dealership.

Yeah, I though it was standard on all BMW's. I have only tried the one key fob though. I'll give the other one a try tomorrow. The BMW is new to me so I don't know if the key has been damaged in any way. All the buttons (unlock/lock/trunk) work fine and I don't have the windows tinted yet, so I would think it should still work. Thanks for the help.

also you can roll up your windows (and close sunroof) by turning and holding the key in the door keyhole.

Auto up (and down for that matter) doesn't work on mine either. On a different car the remote had to be set to do this - combinations of buttons on the remote itself. Anyone know if this is the same with the e90s?

I was wondering the same thing? Anyone know what the code would be or if this is true with the e90's?

So I tried the other remote and it did not roll down the windows/sunroof either. As well, I put the key in the door handle and tried to roll the windows down that way, and again, they did not roll down. Any thoughts? Thanks!

You need to turn it on. Read the owners manual.

I did read the owners manual and did see this feature listed but found nothing about activating it. Any idea how it is done?

I think I am starting to agree with bumere90. I'm thinking that for some reason the PO disabled it through coding, maybe got the dealer to disable it. I don't know why anyone would go through the trouble to disable it though, even if they never used it. I think it is a neat feature and would like to get it working again.

Is there a way to have it open all windows and the sunroof and not have to hold the button the entire time the windows are opening?

One reason that comes to mind is I remember a few posts from members who store their cars outside and have found their cars with windows down in the morning, sometimes full of rainwater! There never seemed to be any certainty on whether the car had gremlins or if their fob somehow got pressed inadvertently in a pocket, gym bag, etc. to lower the windows. Perhaps the previous owner had this happen multiple times and coded the feature out?

You should be able to restore it by visiting a local coder (if there are any in your area) or by visiting the dealer ($$$).

I thought that the roll down and sunroof feature came with comfort access. Of course itcan always be coded.

I'm expiencing same issue, I got a 335is convertible and when holding the unlock button is supposed to roll down the windows then put the top down but nothing happens. Is there a setting or something to enable it?

I'm pretty sure you have to press unlock -/- release -/- press unlock again and hold to roll windows down, and keep holding for sunroof to retract.

Isn't there a setting in the main instrument cluster menu, where you can turn on and off features like three-blink signal option, auto door lock/unlock, etc.?

On my car double click unlock when you open the doors the windows go right down.

One click unlock and hold will roll the windows down and will stop where and when you release the button.

One click and hold of lock rolls the windows up again stopping where and when you release them.

Hope this helps man.
