Question about how JB+ operates
I'm considering the JB+ for my 335 cab. Yes I know it's not a "real tune" like Cobb or the JB4 but I'm interested in a modest bump in power. Does anyone know exactly how it works? From the searches I've done it appears that it fools the ECU into thinking the boost is actually lower than it really is. If this is so is there any harm that can come from this? Any concerns about the engine running too lean?

It's pretty much just a boost controller knob. Plug it into the tmap and turn up the boost a little bit. It's not the BEST tuning solution, but it work. I don't know the exact science of it though. As long as you keep it at 75% and under, you'll be good.

You are better off with a JB4 or COBB.

From what I understand it tricks your tmap sensor into thinking it is at a higher elevation thus requiring more boost to achive the same load. So yea... basically it just raises the boost. For the record I loved my jb+. It really is more than a "modest" boost in power. On most platforms you would spend thousands getting the same boost in power as a $120 (used) jb+ can give you. Will you want more... probably.. will it satify you for the time being and if you are not looking for 400whp.. I say yes.. will it put a big smile on your face... defi Honestly I think I is quicker (at 75%) than cobb stg 1 drive and comparable to stg 1 aggressive. (I am running cobb now with a custom e30 map and have experience with both). Let me know if you are looking for one. Mine has been sitting in my glove compartment for 6mnths. Lol.

Get a used jb4 instead. You won't regret it.

I've been running it for a few years and love it. Set it and forget it. Its a 2 minute install. Cheap as can be. Its not the best solution but it works. Like others said keep it below 75% and itll be fine. Its the best $125 you can spend on your car.
