Anyone had downpipes installed in ATL? Looking for shop recommendations and prices.

So I spent all weekend attempting to do a DIY downpipe install on my 07 335. Short story, I lost the battle to rusted/seized/rounded bolts that connect the midpipe to the factory DP.

I'm planning to take the car by my usual indy shop (European Motorcars on Roswell Rd) tomorrow to have them do it. I've heard $200-300 is a reasonable amount to pay for an install, but just in case they quote me something crazy, does anyone have a good shop in the area that did your DPs at a good price?

Just an FYI..they are likely to charge you more since you probably did more harm than good by attempting it yourself..

Perhaps. They're just going to have to cut the DP to MP bolts off which wont take long for a fully equipped shop. All the rest is back just like it was.

The good thing is I'm a regular there and know the guys well so they may cut me a break if it does take more time.

It wouldn't have been such a disaster if the car handn't spent so much of its life up north. The bolts would have stripped anyways if a shop tried to get them off unless they started out with a torch straightaway. The corners were basically 100% rust. Thanks road salt.

I got billed 3 hours to swap. So $2-300 would be about right.

Got it done today. They had to cut the bolt off but made short work of it. My guy cut me a break on the hours and billed 2.5 hours, he's a fellow 335 driver/tuner

Bringing this back up. Does anyone have recommendations for a shop intown that will install downpipes? Buckhead Imports won't do aftermarket work at their intown location and said that their Smyrna shop where performance work was no longer accepting aftermarket work either. Sounded weird.

I live in Buckhead and work downtown so ideally I'd like to find a place I can drop it off and just take Uber or MARTA to the office. Buckhead Muffler doesn't want to do it since it involves removing cats. I know SOLO will do it, but Jimmy Carter would be a pricey trip both ways.

Or does anyone do work on the side? The shop I used to go to all the time and did the swap back to OEM a few years back moved way up to North Gwinnett.

markert is great, but if you are looking closer in town check out Carma Motorsports. Solo is also a good option.

Thanks for the tips, I'll keep them in mind for future work. I ended up just doing it myself. I took a peek under and saw that all the clamps and bolts were aligned for easy removal since I had DP's on there before and had a shop swap them for emissions a few years back (just bought the car then and couldn't get DP Fix to work in time for registration).

Only took 2.5 hours in the end which worked out better than driving and then waiting 4 hours at a shop during the work day.
