335XI Clutch Slip
It finally happened. Went to overtake a car yesterday, went WOT, the clutch just slipped, and revved to 5000rpm, and then came the smell. A few hours later, tune on MAP 0, went WOT, still slipping. This morning, cold clutch, still slipping at WOT, slipping at even higher rpm's now.
Is there anyway this could be my CDV acting up?? If it is the clutch, does anyone have experience with the ACT street clutch? I want a near stock feeling clutch with a bit more bite.

Given the description, it really sounds like you glazed the surface and made martensite out of your flywheel. Once my clutch slipped, it went downhill from there.
Spec stage 2+ feels almost exactly stock to me with more bite. Weight and engagement feel roughly the same too. |

It seems strange your clutch is slipping. usually it happens on a higher power levels. Btw what is your mileage?

Not strange that it's slipping. Once it slips it gets exponentially worse and even at stock power levels it won't hold.
Once you burn it up you have a limited amount of time before the car is undrivable in a worst case scenario. I'd recommend the Spec over the ACT any day of the week. |

get the DMFW and not the lightened SMFW if you want stock feel and less chatter.

OP get a spec clutch. I had the ACT HDSD on my car and was garbage. I have a spec stage 3+ with a steel flywheel now and it takes all the abuse i throw at it with no problems. Mine does have some chatter due to the steel flywheel. I went with the steel flywheel because i want to get a single turbo and i've read that oem flywheels cause misfires at higher power levels. If you don't want any chatter get a oem flywheel along with your spec clutch. The spec stage 3+ has a harder pedal feel compared with the spec stage 2+.

The car currently has 105,000 KM on it. I bought it used @ 97,000km, I am assuming its a combination of the older owner + a few clutch dumps at the drag way.
Car is back at the dealer I bought it from now, they may end up covering the clutch after all. If not it sounds like i am going with a spec clutch. Lesson learned, do not by 335's @ 100K area, a lot of work has been required.
