Finally updated my Xede to R6
With several attempts using the usb-serial adapter and several lap tops I couldnt freakin get my xede to communicate. Come to find out you gotta install the stupid usb-serial cable. I used a Dynex cable so had to go to their site and install their harware or whatever for it. Then it finally communicated
After I updated the software, took it around the block a few miles. First impression just leaving the complex was that the lag is pretty much gone Once I got on the road, the vehicle seemed overall alot smoother. I kind of miss the put you in your seat kind of feel but I like the consistant power feeling... You can kind of compare it to the feel of an E39 M5 and an E60 M6... Me like! Thats all.. just wanted to share that with you guys...

I did the same this last weekend and had exactly the same experience with the same results. Why would a cable need a software driver?!
Anyway, I think aa should be able to make another map with that strong push at about 2500 rpm, but still keep it smoothe and not have the boost seem to drop off at 3500 and come back at about 4500 like it did with the old map (but doesn't with the new map). |

^^ AA has all the instructions on how to update it in .PDF form on their web site.
In short: you have to open your ECU, find serial port on your Xede unit, connect it via serial cable to your PC's/laptop's serial port, download XUpdate software from AA site and the update file. Install and run XUpdate program on your computer, and using it update your Xede with R5(R6) update file. |

If you can not tell the difference between your pre-xede and post-xede performance, the unit was not installed correctly, it is defective or you forgot to switch the valet switch to the "O" setting (if they installed a valet switch). It's clear you're no gearhead, but anyone should feel the additional power.
