OpenFlash Mount or cell phone and many others mount
I was thinking of ways to mount my OpenFlash tablet that was easily accessible and clean looking. Previous mount attempts either blocked the air vent, rattled like crazy, were cheap breakable plastic, or used adhesive that slowly came off from the heat of the sun. I believe I have created a mount system that has many uses, is built tough, does not rattle, is fully adjustable, and is removable with no damage to the car. This is a frankenstein setup with a few different parts from different distributors. You can also use some of my ideas and make a hybrid of your own. Below are some pictures and links of the items and the final install in my car.
http://www.amazon.com/RAM-Universal-...ref=pd_sim_e_2 $21.34 http://www.amazon.com/RAM-Mounts-Com...=pd_sim_cps_12 $10.99 http://www.amazon.com/RAM-Square-2-I...ref=pd_sim_e_4 $7.28 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $8.99 http://www.bimmian.com/MDM/92 Dash Bracket Only No Device Holder SKU#MDM9XA506 $25.00 Many different mounting positions I have not received my OBD-II extension cable yet but I plan on running the cable under the dash and center console for a clean appearance. This is all metal and rubber, with no rattle at all, and you can take a corner at 90MPH and the device you put in this bracket will not move an inch. One note is that the OpenFlash tablet is the max size device the Xbracket can accommodate so if you want more flexibility get the next size up. Iphone 5, galaxy Note and so on will fit fine with this mount. You can use any screw and nut to attach the Ram square base to the metal dash mount. You also use the stock BMW screw behind the DVD, climate control cover. |

Just an FYI. The phone holder on Bimmian that can be purchased with the bracket for $45.00 is a POS crappy plastic rattling cheap mess. It also is not big enough to hold the tablet. Just buy the bracket alone.
