misfiring not always same cyl though

hi guys car is hesitant sometimes. i was getting miss's on cyl 2 and 4 then its on 4 and 6 now .i bought the car used with 110k miles on it and not sure if or when plugs where changed. searched and found usually its the same misfire's so could be a coil or injector in my cyl 4 but could it just be plugs? being it missed on cyl 2 and now cyl 6 ?

With just the codes it's difficult to diagnose. Does it generally misfire at Wide open throttle, high RPM's heavy load, Idle?

I would change plugs first, it's cheap and easy enough. Then check for misfires. If it misfires again, move coil packs around. Also Coils failure tend to show during heavier engine loads and High RPMS.

So if its misfiring at idle it's either plugs and or injectors. it Could be o2's too...But i would start with plugs, then go to Coils. As those are the easiest and cheapest to test. Also if you have access to INPA, you can run the rough running test to see which cylinders are running rougher than others.

good luck.

If you are uncomfortable doing the above, just be ready to spend a lot of money at a shop.

Change your plugs first and go from there.

When I have misfires under load, and they are specfic cylinders it was either coils or injectors. When they were random, it was plugs.

I used to go WOT and get misfire and go into limp mode. I changed my sparkplugs and it went away.
