JB2, JB2R offroad downpipe dynos

Hey guys,

I was planning on breaking in to the 11s all turbo today, but the weather just didn't want to cooperate. Since I was already dressed up, I decided to swing by the dyno on the way back.

Mods are JB, UR offroad downpipes, 2nd cats & res removed, cutouts, and ITG air filter. All runs were on ~96 octane. Correction factor 1-2%.

Run 4 is the off the shelf JB2
Run 5 is the JB2 with the new downpipe/93 octane pill
Run 3 is the JB2R with the new downpipe/93 octane pill

Overall I was pretty happy with the numbers. I also did a run closed cutouts (stock muffler), and peak hp/tq was around 8 less.

To do a quick analysis on the downpipes, I did around 323rwhp before on the JB2 91 octane, stock downpipes, stock mufflers. So I *think* the downpipes were worth around 10rwhp/15rwtq on the normal JB2. Not bad at all! Spool is much better, and the sound is a bit more tinny but not bad. Overall they are a high quality product and do perform. I don't really want to get in to a downpipe war but will be testing the Riss downpipes soon as well.

The downpipe/93 pill adds around .5psi, and produced a nice gain. On the JB2R + .5psi the torque really took off, maybe too much for daily driving, but makes for a fun track curve. Not *too* lumpy...

Anyway enjoy.

Wow! Great #'s. lol!

Quick question Terry. When you say JB2R with the 93/octane pill. Do you mean that you have the JB2R swithced on and the octane pill with 93 octane?

Run 4 is the off the shelf JB2 (with 96 octane?)
Run 5 is the JB2 with the new downpipe/93 octane pill (96 octane?)
Run 3 is the JB2R with the new downpipe/93 octane pill (96 octane?)

Sorry, what is 93 octane pill?

Yes all runs 96 octane on drag radials. Was on the way to the track....The 93 pill is something I'm playing around with. I've used it in the past for customers who make less boost than they should (due to extra resistance in their map sensor, etc), but realized it works damn well as a DP/93 tune. More testing to come.

Yes, the 93 pill snaps in and can't be switched on/off. To avoid confusion we should call it the hot pill. So you can have a JB2, JB2H, JB2R, JB2RH (like this dyno).

Those are some remarkably consistant curves between each run.

lol changed it.

JB2 was ~11.25psi, JB2H ~11.75, JB2HR ~15. They all roll off towards redline.

You think us 93 octane + downpipe guys could get away with 12.2-ish psi?

Maybe... but the problem is it might be OK when its colder out, but not when its hot, and the JB hardware can't adjust boost based on IAT. I need to leave some margin in there to allow for temperature variation.

12.5psi up to about 75-80 F ambient, beyond that some timing will be pulled. Sounds like the 'hot' pill is a nice in between. A winter version would be nice for those with 93oct and cooler temps. Could call it the JB2HW.
