Having the radio turn off or loose power is a different problem.

Coding for the car does not reside in the Radio

I have a similar radio display issue of intermittent pixel dropout. This occurs most on warm days. On cold mornings display is mostly clear. Has anyone changed their battery to see if this helps?

I would expect the pixel dropout to be static and not temperature dependant if the display was inherently faulty.

Would it help to connect battery by jumperleads to check if this is a voltage issue?
