My 56 plate has 140k on it and runs like a dream also!
Haven't had it for ages but talking to bmw it was a demonstrator and sold to a barrister who was up and down the country racking up motorway miles and has never really needed any major warranty work. car has a full bmw history and honestly drives better than some 60k mile models i drove. |

Yeah, no shit. I'm impressed too.
OP, just curious, what is the maintenance history for the car. Did you just follow the CBS schedule, or did you use a alternate maintenance schedule to augment it. Also, what type of driving have you been doing? I'd suspect a lot of highway considering the seat time it takes to get that kind of mileage in 28 months. Thanks. |

BMW is a car that likes to drive, not sit in the driveway. by the # of miles on your 09, it sounds like it didnt have time for anything to break! good work, keep up the driving

So far this car has been in for service three times. I did all of the other maintenance such as oil, fluids, plugs etc. Dealer performed HPFP recall at 87k and has also done my front and rear brakes, a few oil changes and the injector aside from yesterdays work. Usually when I would bring it in for service it would only show one or two things needed. It's on it's third set of tires. Most of my driving is indeed highway, I work about 20 minutes from home and also love taking arbitrary drives around at night. I know it's a lot of miles, but I can't think of a car i'd rather do it in. Last edited by PINeely; 11-19-2011 at 12:24 PM.. |

This is the first time that I have as well. My first car did have 160k on it but I only kept it for about 30 more, and my other three have all been with me for about 50-60k like you. At this point I almost feel like I owe it to myself to keep on going and I want to drive this car till it's one with the earth anyway!

True, would've been truly impressive if done while doing 50+ mph like the op.
Not that I condone that nor encourage it But very encouraging to hear about a great experience at the dealer and more importantly that the car runs great after all those miles. |

Both are in great shape. I have leather and it still looks new and aside from some stone chips my paint is in perfect shape. Granted I do take particular interest in cosmetic quality. My one complaint with wear and tear is the soft touch paint inside which has begun to scratch away near the driver window switches.

yeah that soft touch stuff is notorious for peeling, mine had the door handle cup replaced inside my e92 with a similar looking but different material under warranty.
I am picky about the cosmetics as well, how bad are the paint chips, did you use touch up? did you have any clear bra or naked paint up front? any pics of that front end.. |
