I raise your civic and come back with a early 90's 5.0 for 2K and throw 15K into that and blow the door of both ya'll in a straight line of course

I thought the n54 was desirable due to the fact it had two seperate turbos. I do not see what 1 will be able to do that 2 (even if smaller) cannot do?

Also if you want gobs of power and want a big single turbo, won't that create great amounts of lag?
I don't get it either. What's the big deal about single turbo ?

The value proposition you are missing is that the n54 platform can be had for between 20-25k now in a clean car used, Even with fairly low miles. Very few people will be putting this kit on a brand new car. You even quoted used prices for the GTR. Imagine that 15k of modifications that you speak of put into a car that cost you 20-25k and you end up with a explosively potent car in the upper echelon of high speed capability for a little more than half the price of the GTR.

Regardless, this is truely the best of times for performance nuts. With so many high quality and technologically advanced platforms out there, and very little in the way of legislation and control placed for emissions, we will have a large selection of used vehicles that are really going to kick some serious ass. Imagine some of the Luxury and exotic cars that will be up for sale in the used market in the next 5 years for stupendous prices?

The truly interesting question is how much these blocks will take when pushed. These are exciting times, and it is great to see HPF at the forefront of pushing the platform. With proper tuning and fueling sorted, I have a feeling it might be suprising.

IN FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS! =)

We are still talking about $45K or so total package here... that opens the door up for a lot of fast cars plus it doesn't fix all of the other issues I was referring to. I have yet to meet a person who will dump $20K in mods on a 4 year old BMW... then again; I just like to tell things the way I see them... everyone is free to disagree and their own interpretation.

The stock twin turbo can only make so much power.
Upgraded twins can only make so much power.

The space for 2 large turbo's isn't available, if it is it comes with too many sacrifices/cost.

The power potential of 1 single turbo is better then a small stock turbo especially with a manifold that has the options for many single turbo options for power goals.

The way I view it with my 335 is. I paid $30k for it used. Put in over $18k into my car (performance parts, aesthetic parts, labor).

Yes, I could have bought a M3 for $48k, but that would be a stock M3. I would have ended up spending even more to upgrade the M3.

wow cant believe I just saw this thread!!! Deff. in for updates, and if this kit is launched at a decent price ($5K range for a good stage 1+)...then the 335 will be THE Bmw to own, for all the reasons already stated above.

Its like when they came out with their E46 M3 turbo kit, how many people have bought USED E46 M3s JUST BECAUSE of the HPF KIT...

To all the people who are complaining about traction issues, reliability issues, dropping 15-20k into a bmw, resale value or whatever:

Who cares. It is not your car to worry about or your money. Let the people who want a faster 335 drop money into this kit. I mean I am going to.. I don't see why not. Not planning on selling this car so I don't care about the value of the car going down more than a gt-r or whatever. I mean I am sure we can have a decent amount of power and still be able to have traction or make it work some way. Let everyone do what they want and all will be well!

PS. Questforpower I think the gt-r r35 is not a cooler car I think its ugly. I personally love the r32 and 34. anyway don't want to start any arguments.

Can't wait for the kit!

I don't know about some of you guys but 5K upgrade isn't a big deal to some people in this business. Hell this car is a DD for some people as well. I wish I had the money to drop 5K but I would have to sell my wife first

I would imagine it be up to the task. Look at the X5 M and X6 M.

And if not.... If you build it... we will grip.

Drivetrain is my main concern, double the half-shafts of a 335i and no telling what the transfer case can take. Seems like the hard-launches will spell doom for the half-shafts just based on what RWD cars are doing with good drag radials and a sticky track.

Highest WHP 335xi that I know of was Firepoule on youtube (bobvader on here), I want to say he was ~450whp. Not sure what drvetrain stuff he has replaced if anything but I've always been told the 450whp+ mark is where the repairs start to flood in for 335i or 335xi.

I may be wrong but I'm almost positive the SUVs have different running gear, I sure hope so because if my transfer case can't take the 550-600whp I have planned I was hoping to try and fit one from the X5 M !
