Help!!! Over-Heating problem!!!!
Hi guys!
My car over heated last sunday. Both the yellow/orange and the red thermometer logo came on. No leaks, and fans work fine. A buddy of mine is a mechanic and took a look at it. Said it was the thermostat since the top hose was hot and the bottom one was cold (or something like that). I bought a brand new thermostat with the housing ($125) and it still over heated. Went on youtube a did the bleeding/waterpump test and my waterpump did absolutely nothing! He checked if there was any current going to the waterpump and in fact there is power going into the water pump. Could it be that the waterpump is completely fried? Could it be something else? Please help guys! Thanx in advance! 07 328i n52 manual tranny 103k mi I bought it in February and has a service warranty. |

Water pump failures are quite common on these cars, especially at that mileage. The water pump and thermostat usually get replaced at the same time since they're together.
If you have a BMW specific scanner, you'll likely see fault codes related to the water pump. |

if you have a service warranty.....would that cover a Tstat and Water Pump?
else go to an Indy. Bleeding Procedure: - Install expansion tank cap and be sure all bleeder screws are tight. - Turn ignition ON (do not start engine), set temperature controls in vehicle interior to full warm and blower fan speed to Low. - Press accelerator pedal to floor and hold down for ten seconds. (10 seconds) Electric coolant pump will run for about 12 minutes to circulate coolant and bleed air from cooling system Once pump has run the cycle, check level of coolant in expansion tank and adjust as needed. - Start and run engine at idle until it reaches operating temperature and check cooling system for leaks. |

did you replace that also? if water pump does not turn on, you would have a code. so get it scanned with INPA or something BMW likes. Carly BMW app with an OTG Cable and a K+D Can cable will also work. get us some codes. |
