e90: $55,400 e92: $58,400 e93: $67,050 And these don't include the gas guzzler tax. Plus 2011 m3 prices may go up another couple hundred. Having said that, you can get an M3 for $500 over ED invoice, which is $7k+ below MSRP. So it is indeed possible to get into an M3 (e90) for just over $50k out the door. However, by the same token, it should be possible to do the same with a 335is and get the car in the low 40s. Of course, these are both no-option cars we are talking about. |

The answer is in one of the many 335is threads around here. Basically the 335is has a more restrictive intake manifold than the Z3 35is. I think BMW did this to make sure the paper specs didn't encroach to close to the M3.

From what I have read so far, it seems like there wont be a 335is in all-wheel drive (possibly a 335xis?).
The PDF file coming from the bmwusa.com web site about the press release on the 2011 3-series talks about the car having both the 335i and the 335xi. However, both cars have the same engine and performance and no where does it talk about the 335is. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...s/default.aspx Anyways, anyone have any kind of information that there will be a 335is in all-wheel drive? |

I have been an AWD person all of my life pretty much until my 335. AWD helps a bit in the turns and a lot in snow, but I am starting to wonder if it is worth it for me to carry awd weight, maintenance, power loss, etc around for those times. If the iS is going to be as much of a sport model as it looks like it will be, I don't think BMW will bring it with AWD. Also, I don't know if they can mate their DCT to AWD or not.

Yep. Nothing I said in my posts contradicts that. I was responding to the guy who said an M3 was cheaper (it clearly isn't). And my low 40k number is for a no option ED car, as I specifically noted in my post.

I'm now leaning towards a lightly optioned M3 via ED. I have 6-7 months to decide anyway, and I do want to test drive the 335is vs M3 beforehand. |

I figure if I do a 2-3 year lease as opposed to purchase this time around, I should be able to time it so I can get the new F32 (?) coupe when it's released in 2012 or 2013. I don't really have any desire to mod my car, so the 335is sounds perfect. However, the M3 is so close in price, and ED invoice is lower than MSRP I have about 100,000 frequent flier miles to use up, so this is perfect for me. |

The 335is is BMW putting some showy bits on the car and increasing the 335's performance in the one area where the 335 was already very strong--straight-line acceleration.
It would have been better if they added some suspension bits or maybe brakes. Or the LSD, of course.

I'd imagine, if it's there, it'd be similar to that of the ZHP's suspension from the e46 chasis. I hope there's some kind of suspension upgrade factory...there's nothing sporty about the stock sport suspension-

Studio vs live shot. For some reason the coupe they gave to the press had fogs.
Article here: http://www.autoblog.com/2010/01/23/o...335is-w-video/ The 335is will be available in either coupe (base MSRP $50,525) or convertible (base MSRP $59,075 - ouch!) body styles. |

Yeah, with the European marques you gotta (really really really) pay to play.

But that's just the law of diminishing returns, huh? The more you use something the less utility you get of out it... Every time I think about modding my car I know i'll drop tons of cash and still want more To be completely honest, driving my 335i stock for awhile was still a damn treat.
