Bump. This thread needs some life. Safe tracking to those headed out this weekend.

this weather reminds me why I didn't sign up for mid-summer track days. I did two scorchers last year, the worst being a 1-day PCA event at Lightning ...105*F ambient with full humidity, in full sun. It was ridiculous and I got almost nothing out of it - I was too focused on trying not to [personally] overheat.
The car didn't have overheating problems, though, and I had the stock intercooler.

All this heat got me thinking about the August race at NJMP. We're installing cooling system in the race car (for the driver!) Ice water pumped through a cool shirt will help tremendously.
Dan - congrats on the 1:05 and Lime Rock. Have fun at The Glen Art.

Looked at NASA but unless you build a car for TT to begin with in mind, the rules work against you most times. For me, I'd have to remove most of my BMW Performance exterior parts just because anything non-base trim is considered Aero mods. I'm going to run with EMRA. If things go well with EMRA might then consider other Time Attack events.

I ran a 1:05 at Lime Rock last April. Went up for the day with a buddy of mine with his 2012 S4. He doesn't really like the way his car handles (too much body roll). I was taking the last turn flat-out by the end of the day. I really like Lime Rock!

Watkins Glen was great 2 weeks ago. it is pretty large. i kept confusing two turns (7 & 8 i think). at the end of the boot i kept thinking the left was one turn ahead of where it really is, kept coming up over the hill on the wrong side think hmmm maybe i should get be over to the left!!
(best lap here) Looks like the Aug Del val event is shaping up to be a good one! cant wait to see everyone there Last edited by spicish22; 07-21-2013 at 05:49 PM.. Reason: lap |

awesome day at Lightning today. This was the entire field, just 6 cars in my group.
Guess everyone got scared of the weather but it was mid-80s to low-90s and not a drop of water. Apparently yesterday was a different story. |

Also I think the current TTC track records are reachable, at 1:17.7 Light & 1:32.3 Thunder (and 1:04.0 LRP). On top of that your car's base class starts at TTD, so you can have good amount of mods if you bump up to TTC. Meanwhile TTC and TTD records seem pretty much the same. http://www.nasa-tt.com/Northeast_Tra...1_articleid/10 |

Actually I don't have that many mods. But my specific car model is TTD +7 points. I've done the numbers over and over and end of day what kills is all the BMW performance parts (ie bumper, diffuser, etc). That alone adds to 11 points in Aero trim. I could stay in TTC but again I wouldn't be very competitive b/c those 11 points in Aero are non-functional. I should be using that towards tires and REAL aero. The whole NBT (non-base trim) rules for NASA sucks. If your M3 came with a lip spoiler which was not part of the base trim, that little piece of abs plastic counts as "Aero." |

Hey Art, you're looking pretty good. Your shifting/steering seems very smooth. One critique is leaning and tilting your head - stay upright as much as possible, and keep your head square with your shoulders. This will improve your perception of the car's movements.
