Dash camera

Hi, anyone using dash camera? What are you using?

With the motion detection, I am thinking it may be served as a security camera when the car is parked on the street or home.

Saw a few on eBay ($20-$100) but not sure about the quality. Interestingly that for the same camera but there are different brand names with different prices, really not sure which is the genuine one..

Thinkware F750 is one of the best you can get currently. F770 is on pre-order.

If you're after bang for buck with GPS, look at mini 0805.

If you're after really cheap bang for buck without gps. G1W.

https://dashcamtalk.com/ is a good resource.

The F750 is like $600+

I have been looking at B40 and 0805 this afternoon too cause while I plan to use a radar detector, I don't want to have another bulky dash camera on the windscreen.
0805 supplies a hard wire kit also, but may I ask where do I hard wire it to? There is airbag on the A pillar, I don't think I can open that trim in order to hide the wire?

May I ask if I don't use the Power Magic Pro, where should I hard wire it?
Can I hard wire it together with V1?

I have the Blackvue and the bitrate of the camera struggles when it comes to high detail/contrast scenes. EG: Mountain run with loads of trees and shadows on a sunny day.

F750 doesn't have much of that. The 805 surprisingly does better than the blackvue considering how much i paid for the blackvue.

G1W, flash it with the latest firmware to push up the bitrate and it will cope with high detailed scenery. I no longer have the G1W as i wanted GPS tracking.

But remember, higher bitrate = more storage required. I generally prefer cams that supports 128gb cards now.

Have the blackvue front and rear cam.

Works fine, can view from smartphone or remotely if you have 4G Internet in car.
Software package is great for viewing later.
Can save clips to your smartphone.
Parking mode (motion and impact)

I had the 0803 on my old car, great form factor, hate how bulky everything else is. Was alright but suffered from a few issues. Sound was default to OFF which made sound pretty useless. The battery also crapped out after several months. Not surprising given how hot the car got.

Now theres a 0807 version and it has a supercap instead of a rechargeable battery, I've been holding off fitting one to my car cos there's nothing I really like but the 0807 looks promising. Easy to wire this stuff up as there's power already running to the autodim mirror so making up a harness is very easy.

What about 0805? Is it better than 0807 even the latter is a newer version?

Also, may I ask if I can hard wire the 0805 like how V1 is hard wire?

With the auto dim mirror, I found that it is not working even I checked that the option has been turned on.
I use the flash light from the phone to point at the sensor in the mirror but there isn't any change/movement from the mirror.

I hear you on it. I used the G1W for a while on one of my other cars and it just stood out like a sore thumb.

I like the Blackvue for form factor as well.
