I'm guessing here, but I would guess that BMW de-tuned the turbo system for the flat curve. Tuners will just improve the tune to elevate the power at various points. This should not reduce power noticably at any other points.

If you get the Dinan reflash from your dealer, make sure they reflash your reflash with the Dinan reflash.

I'm pretty sure that if you go to the same Dinan dealer they would preserve the flash. |

The Dinan flash would be reapplied after any updates.

I wouldn't say they de-tuned it. They tuned it to behave like an NA engine would.

One other thought is this could seriously cut into *ede sales and there should be a ton of them hitting the used market very soon as folks jump ship. If anyone is planning on buying an *ede you may want to wait because I think it is going to be a very good buyers market very soon. I mean 1500 no warranty, and risking your entire warranty, hassel of install and un-install for service vs 2000.00 hassel free and peace of mind? It will be a no brainer for many and I can see lots of folks dumping their piggyback if the numbers are really as Dinan is claiming.
I don't think it will effect JB2(R) sales much because the price differential is so huge that JB2 is still the smart buy for us "frugle" modders. JB2R FTW |

I'll take the procede v2 just becuase of the power it gives.
Procede v2 $1600 + hassle (uninstalling for service) + user tunable Dinan is just $2000 + include warranty + LESS power, nahh

Where's BzzzBom? I think even he said he wouldn't do it unless it was $1,000 or less.

I wonder how they handle that comparison? I guess they get book time doing the flash and it saves the warranty... |

Who can get it...
I wonder if they will allow leased vehicles to purchase the Dinan software. I mean most leases are turned in and resold as Certified PreOwned cars... which if I'm not mistaken come with a 100k mile warranty.
If the car hits 75k miles and develops an engine issue related to the Dinan software, who would cover the cost? Since the Dinan warranty ends at 50k, they are out of the picture. It seems after 50k miles, it's just as risky to have the DINAN as it is the PROcede - maybe even MORE risky, because BMW *KNOWS* you had the DINAN software. If you always remove your PROcede, BMW may never know you had it - which could benefit those wanting a 100k mile warranty from BMW. Just a thought... |

Hypothetically let's say I ran a PROcede for 36k miles then took it off and sold my car to someone. Assume the indivudual that purchased my car develops engine problems at 38k miles. Do you really think BMW is going to fix their engine under warranty if it can be proven in the data logs (if this even exists in the computer) state that the car has been run at 14 psi before? My point is: What is DINAN saying by not extending their warranty to match the warranty of the vehicle? Also, if I have a 100k mile extended warranty right now and go buy the DINAN, then at 60k miles have issues with my engine - I'm willing to bet that BMW will not be paying the repair bill.. They'll blame it on the Dinan software and by then the Dinan software warranty is up, so you are screwed. Just something for folks to think about before going out and buying the Dinan. |

Most likely it will the owner that is shelling out the cash if the car breaks after the Dinan warranty ends and BMW says the software was the reason something broke. It would be just like you having the normal warranty and decided to use Procede/SSTT/JB and BMW found it and said it was the reason for the damage.

Hmmmm, decisions decisions.
Pros: One less thing to have to worry about V1 Power isn't too shabby Cons: When you really think about it, a V1 3er has only been proven to be around a half second faster in the quarter, which means you aren't REALLY bumping yourself up to the next level. Basically, things that you used to be faster than, you now pull extremely hard on, and things you were slower than, you might now be able to keep up with. It's 2000 smackaroos and you've just branded yourself as a mod-pansy
