N52B30 with 100 shot NOS dyno

for those that are interested, read on. for all the nay sayers "you're gonna blow your engine" please move along.
As N52 owners, we don't have a choice for big power gain, maybe a tune here, exhaust there and that's it. I've been running NOS for over 2 yrs on my car, since 50K, I'm at 70K now and no engine/drivetrain problems.
like any power mods, if done correctly nitrous is safe and reliable, I don't think you can get this kind of power gain unless you have deep pockets.
I know my gains are nothing to be proud of, N54 can do these stock. All runs are done in 5th gear and I'm on 19 inch wheels.

mods on my car:
AA stage 2 with off road tune
super sprint header/mid pipes into stock muffler, everything else is stock

first run is baseline, not sure why power is a little low, I did reset my DME before the run.
second run is with 100 shot NOS, ran a little rich; changed to smaller fuel jet and third run 88 HP gain

I'm more curious about your baseline. 207rwhp with SS headers and AA tune.. huh?

I understand 330i's have a stronger transmission/clutch than the x28i, but is this safe? Serious question.

Seriously impressive nonetheless. I applaud your pioneering.

not sure what happen there, maybe the tune need time to adapt, stage 2 with off road is a completely different tune then the normal stage 2, and I did notice some power lost going to the off road tune, plus it could be due to my colder spark plugs gaped for NOS.

when you're using Nitrous it's above 3500 rpm, your car is already in motion, doesn't put a lot of stress on the drivetrain

Really impressive gains! I am also about to pull the trigger going nos, but have the same concerns like Daft Auto about the drivetrain.

I think the torque peaks are what can put stress on the drivetrain regardless of whether it is in motion or not.

I’m almost finished with my NOS setup:

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=411321&page=6

I have driveshaft and diff from 335i. I’ll be installing halfshafts and wheel carriers from 335i so I can use big brakes. I will probably need stronger transmission.

don't tunes generally advance timing, which is bad for when using NOS? not an expert here, more of question....

It is recommended to retard timing by 2° for every 50 hp. Hopefully I’ll be able to do it with OFT.

Isn't the offroad tune the same flash just tricks the O2 sensors?

Awesome gains OP

I wonder if my E92 328 with ZF Transmission can handle this? I was sourcing all the parts to add 100 shot NOS to my car but I lost track and forgot everything I researched. Gonna get back on this project after I get all my tune.

agreed, I'm more concern about my drivetrain then anything else. I can see pre mature failure if you run nos at every stop light, 99% of the time I'm driving normal

I'm no expert on software tunes, but I think there has to be some other changes involve or your car won't run correctly when the O2 sensors are turned off

Regarding the tune, the secondary o2 sensors are primarily for emissions testing but also provide some minor fuel air ration adjustments. I would keep them on for maximum performance, I turned them off for a bit and noticed slight loss in high rpms

Oh and awesome gains btw op! How does that extra torque feel

This is with or without nitrous?

Kind of curious of those going from 325 to 330 intake manifold + headers + tune should consider retarding timing at all, as it can certainly equate to a 50 hp gain

a 100 shot is a lot for a 3.0 motor.

Back in my lt1/ls1 days a 100 shot would be a standard, but you have a 5.7 engine......

a wet kit with standalone fuel like the one guy has is a very very good thing. for sure pull some timing, colder plus & and change them often, c16 or something along those lines for the standalone fuel cell too. and a window switch so your not spraying between shifts.
