How long does it take to get a 335i coupe

Does anyone know how long it takes to get a 335i coupe? I ordered one from the dealer on 12/6/2006.

Typical timeframe from order to delivery is 6-8 weeks. I ordered my 335i Coupe on 9/22/06 and took delivery on 11/11/06. Also, you can track your car's entire buiding-to-shipping process via the BMW Cust. Service (800) # and on the BMW Owners Circle Web site (although the Web site has ~ 2 day delay).

I dont think 6-8 weeks will be the norm for december orders. German manufacturing comes to a crawl in December. I would not be suprised if 10-12+ weeks is closer. My 12.21.06 order has a mid Febuary built at best, thats already over 6 weeks, add in 3-5 weeks in delivery, shipping prep etc. and I am at March /April delivery

my SA told me that the 335i coupes are so in demand right now, that he has people placing orer now, and their production will not start untill 2 months from now. That sucks. I somewhat lucked out. I placed my order on November 6 and it's already January 2nd today. My car is on route and it had a delivery day to the port of entry NY on the 12/31/06... Now it says 1/2/2007... My dealer said i should get it this week... on Saturday it will officially be 2months waiting. Now your SA will look in his system. If they ordered a car or someone ordered a car that was in production and they cancelled it and you want the same exact color and specs, then most likely you will luck out and get that car so you will order a car that's already in production. ANyway, patients dude. I've waited almost 2 months.... The wait was KILLING ME. Now that it's only days away, i'm MORE OF A KILL!!!

Delivery on 1/19 -- Cannot Wait!

I placed my order on Wednesday Oct 25th, got a Week 49 production date (got lucky, I guess!). Car went into production 12/3, and was completed 12/14. Was in pending shipment for a few days and moved to 'in transit' on 12/19 -- landed in the USA last Friday (?) and is now at the US (SC) preparation center. I get to pick it up at the Performance Deliver Center in Spartansburg, SC on 1/19. Looking forward to some track time...!!

I cannot wait!

Total time waited will be 86 days! But I also had to get Performance Center delviery, so I think I tacked on an extra few days...oh well, worth the wait!!

OT question, but the waiting time for the 335i coupe differs from the sedan right?
Several friends and myself ordered our 335i's. A couple of us got sedans and several got coupes. It seem as if the ones that got the coupes have a longer projected date than the ones who got sedans. Just curious.

you get your production number when your dealer places the order. you get your VIN when the car gets a production date.

In retrospect, I didn't know the answers to any of these questions, but my CA gave me all the info when I placed the order, incl. order#. I still find it a bit weird that people are placing orders, and are told they wont get an order# for 2 mos because the coupe is in such high demand. That sounds downright weird. If a dealer can't give an order# on the spot or say 2 weeks (1/2 a mo.), why don't they do the customer a favor and let them shop around? Are they really so wanting the money that they keep someone on ice for 2 mos?

Ditto, I see it like a waiting list to get on the waiting list. So basically, you're waiting for the dealership to get more open slots in so they can order your car, right?

The only reason I went with the order is that my CA told me the car will be put in order right then and there, and I would have a production number before I leave the dealership that night. The wait is already killing me, lol.

i believe the production number is not hard to give... I had my production number the same day as well... BUT... they did not start production of my car until one month later.... Getting your production number doesn't guarentee you the production of the car ASAP.

It all depends on the allocations your dealer has. Some people will place an order in October and not have the car go into production until December. That is because that dealer didn't have an allocation until that build date. Other dealers may have had a November build date open. The demand of the 335 has no bearing when you order a car. The factory will make whatever you want as long as the dealer has an open allocation for a car. The problem is that because demand is high, the dealers are running out of allocations. Find a dealer that has an open spot and you wont have to wait as long as others.

I was able to find a dealer with an open spot. I ordered my car on Dec 6th and it will hit US soil on Jan 9th. Turn around time of around 6 weeks.

You can make only so many cars a day, and with December production down to minimum there is a back up this time of year. It happens every year, nothing new. I did not see where people are waiting 2 months for production numbers, but rather 2 months till the factory is caught up.

When it shows the week number,it means out of 52 weeks,so it shows the month, then the week and as it gets closer,it shows the day your car was built. It's all on the DAR ( dealer activity report ) that is updated and printed daily by all Sales managers and most CA's,but we can only track cars in our own allocation.
