E90 320d day 10 experience (hit n run)

Parked at work then the security called up and said...

Your car has been hit on the back (by a 406)

The rear bumper is shifted with plenty of bumps and scratches...

Good that they caught the chap on CCTV

I thought its gonna be a good day after fitting my new speakers in last night, but guess it's going back to BMW...

Not good.

Did the driver stop or should they expect a chap at the door?

Any luck with this? Absolute pisser but at least you have evidence (prob best to get a copy quickly if you can - all security that I know tend to wipe and re-record over the tapes given time). Was it someone at your work?

Gutted for you, just do what I did when someone fecked my Golf up....get on cleanyourcar.com and order loads of new wax/glaze so that when you get it back you can make it look better than new. Don't let a prats action ruin the fun with your car!

I hope there's a registration number on the CCTV??

If it was in a public place make sure you report it to the Police straight away and if they try and fob you off say you will make a complaint against whoever you are speaking to as it is a fail to stop reportable collision and they are duty bound to take a report and follow it up.

As has already been said make sure you get a copy of that CCTV just in case it goes walkies in the mean time and take some photo's of your car just in case.

You should also tell your insurance company. I take it your claiming for it?

I hate people that do this

thanks for all the messages.... just called up insurance and ofcourse claiming from them but they don't have any approved BMW repair garages (directline) but they said the garages will use genuine BMW parts... is there something i can do

i am most worried about fitting quality and paint work now

It's my understanding that an insurer can't make you use their repairer and you can choose you're own. They will likely make it a bit of a ball ache going elsewhere but check your policy. Probably says you'll have to get several quotes etc.

you can use who you like. Anyone non BMW will technically invalidate your perforation warranty.
