New Owner 318d Sport Plus with Suspension Question

Hi all,

Just taken delivery of a six month old (ex demo) 318d Sport Plus Edition (2011).

Seriously annoyed with myself for not noticing this but the car has had the option to remove the 'M Sport' suspension. I've done some research and visited the dealer this morning to confirm this. I've also had the car beside another with the sport suspension and can see the ride height difference.

Now to be fair it's a 318d, and it's the wife's so it's not going to be rallying any time soon. What I would like to address though is the ride height. I've lowered a few cars in the past usually on Eibach Springs.

My question is has anyone any recommendations for Springs (BMW approved?) and would they recommend an the dealer fit or find an independent garage.

On a side note having come from owning many Fords, I am seriously impressed with this car. Love it.

Thanks in advance.

I doubt the SE dampers will work well with stiffer & lower suspension settings so you'll probably have to replace them too!

I have a black 320d Sport Plus on the OE suspension and I have to agree that the SE suspension doesn't do it any favours cosmetically.

Is it too late to change it? Was the M Sport suspension deletion pointed out to you? It's not the most obvious option.

Are you within the 30 day/1000 mile return period for an AUC? It's a common car, hopefully they can find you one with the right suspension - even if there is a personal contribution from yourself, far cheaper than changing the suspension. This will not only have financial implications but warranty and insurance ones. Could also impact on resale value unless you stick with BMW stuff - that will cost!

Just out of interest, how much higher does this sit compared to the M-sport suspension?

Didn't realise the SE sat so much higher than the M Sport

Big job to oem that lot.
Forget it, it'll run to about £1500.

Doesnt M-Sport have bigger ARB too on newer cars?

Yes the OP's car looks really high. I wonder if the dealer forgot to remove the transit blocks from the springs during the PDI?
