My car Been on the shop for the last 2 month and now is on the bmw and nobody can solve the issue. They put new turbos, selenoid, vacuum, map sensor, checked the wg, anything that could possible cause the overboosting. They still cant find the issue. Now a technician from bmw is working on it. This is driving me nuts

I had this issue(30FE) from the day I drove the car home after buying it.

Went through all the possible causes and determined it was a vacuum line issue.

I extended the vacuum line between the solenoids with a straight connector and about 2 foot of tubing. (where the 4 inch vacuum line is) I have had overboost issues in over 18months from this fix. Before I couldnt go WOT without induce limp.

Assumption is the vacuum pipes we brittle and had splits in them, causing the the vacuum to drop and return to normal within the tubes, the spikes were registered as an overboost error.

hi,

335i stock 2007
i had a 30FE (too high boost), and its associated 3100 (safe limp mode), always when rev over 5000rpm
I've tried vacuum line extension without success.
Replacement of my two pressure converter solved the issue.

Bad MAP sensors? Any codes for intake pressure plausibility? Also, the wastegate shaft that goes into the turbo can wear and bind and may not be releasing properly, which would cause your excess boost problem. I have a customer car in the shop that has a low boost condition because the WGA cannot shut the rear wastegate.
hi is 30FE Turbocharger, charge-air pressure too high could be due to DUMP if oem ???

only 30FE and 3100 in my case to very high speed around 240km/h and after , before nothing the car looks well ????

here principal root cause but they don't speak dump ??

https://www.google.fr/url?sa=t&rct=j...pEezUw&cad=rja

i already read this..

30FE:
30FE Exhaust fume turbo charger, high pressure side
EXPLANATION: ECU boost over ECU target
FIX: Generally related to tuning. If your tune is equipped with lagfix, the first step is to disable it. If problem persists email your tuner for support.

so with oem dump = lag , i think with forge or tial BOV it will be better no ???

I had 30FE "overboost" error code thrown on 2008 E92 335xi, no engine mods. It went into limp mode when throttle was closed after hard acceleration.
Reason turned out to be turbo vacuum control solenoids, replaced both of them and so far running nicely.

Mine still does this occasionally but it also will go into limp mode from just cruising, or giving light throttle, which makes me think it might not be the solenoids. Did yours only happen after a hard pull?

Just fixed a boost leak (was getting 30FF/3100 for a while) and replaced my solenoids (they finally died, making no boost).

Replaced all vac lines except ones from solenoid to wastegate actuators. Now I am getting 30FE/3100

Think one of my solenoids is bad out of the box or might just be the vacuum lines from solenoid to turbo? Any other suggestions?

EDIT: Also this is intermittent and happens usually when my car is cold and in JB4 safe mode and have to get on the throttle a little bit

Just wanted to bump this thread with some newly discovered information I got after getting this "overboost" code (along with 3100) and determining that there was no issue with solenoid, wastegate, vacuum lines, pressure converter, or anything else that would be logically related to this code. This was after diagnosis and repairs by both trusted independent shop and dealership AND after some unnecessary turbo-related repairs. My E92 has never had any tuning mods.

Long story short, there was never any issue with turbo boost or anything similar. There was an intermittent misfire on cylinder 5 under heavy load between 3K and 4K RPM. Dealer traced it to either (1) dirty intakes or (2) clogged/malfunctioning injector. I am on my second set of injectors, and didn't want to shell out the price of a new set for a 9 year old car. So I had them do the walnut shell blast and I put a bottle of Chevron Techron through the tank. I can't say the problem is solved 100%, but it's very close to that. Very little misfiring, no codes, and no limp mode!

But the incorrect diagnosis and misleading code from the OBD cost me extra money.

Glad you got it fixed! My car has been parked for winter and doing some maintenance/ upgrades so I will re-evaluate once its back on the road. My situation is odd because it only happens under partial throttle. WOT seems to operate fine but I need to do more testing

Good luck...
Same problem here, 07 335i. Ive ordered some silicone vacum hose, going to replace all the lines as first port of call
