Apparently the 06' models may have introduced newer parts but still doesn't take away from the problems.... couple of nice examples on ebay and autotrader with full SH and no advisories.... but it's this ABC systems holding me back.... All things aside, when and if I get an AMG.. I'm still going to be posting here regularly with pics and updates... by far the best community and I've made some good friends, that plus everybody's so friendly and the place is always active! |

The CL65 comes from a millionaire owner.
All these cars look good on paper, but the sad thing is £120, 000 cars for £20, 000 used money, still have £120, 000 car repair bills and running costs. It would be interesting to see how much a warranty costs and what it really covers. Many have lots of T&Cs and maximum claim levels that won't go far in this class of car with a bigger issue. |

you'd make the e46 have road presence dont forget we are in the modding game my friend!
and there is always the option to SUPERCHARGE! - youd have plentty $$$$ left over from not buying a BENZ hahahahaha

You're right that it's easy to buy a low priced well maintained M3 E46 - will have few left over pennies to mod it! But I don't want to think about sitting in a more dated car / interior having owned the E92... Going to a merc is different... but this ABC issue is beginning to piss me off... typical... it happens to be on the only model I want lol. |

There's something about the E46 that just stands out, it just sits so aggressive but your right about the interior.
I think what ever car your looking at you need to have some form of warranty as all the cars mentioned could potential have a big bill if it goes wrong. Josh do you do your lights on all BMW models? (sorry to hijack Sam) |

Ok so had a chat with MB specialists and they said the ABC (Active Body Control) is something of a beauty. Said once you experience it, you wouldn't want anything else in replacement. He said they are common faults BUT what's stopping you to get coilovers or air ride if it does fail? A much cheaper solution to otherwise an expensive fix... thought having had a look on youtube... the ABC is just Mercs version on an Air Ride... and it's amazing.. not a lot of videos but see these..
Apparently nothing rides so well and handles as well as the ABC on such big cars... but it doesn't put me off so much anymore.. If it fails, I could just throw on decent coilovers.. and only take out warranty for engine and electrics? Anyone able to shed light on warranty? Where can I get warranty for a 7-8 year old car? Approx how much should I be paying if I go with a high excess of say £250 / £500? All I know it I'd need about £5k in repair money to keep aside which I don't mind since I'll sell the 335D, sell some of the mods and save away... but touch wood I'll only keep the car about a year and won't mod as much since it'll come with the ABC... ofcourse I'll be adding my little touches but I won't go crazy since it's already a monster !! It's the selling of it afterwards that'll hurt the most since not many people are in the market to buy a petrol guzzling monster LOL. |

This could easily cost a fortune - but at least you are preparing yourself for that. Adding coils is a solution for you but will certainly impact the resale value..
With new m5 lease deals at £500 per month it hardly seems worth the risk - especially as you'll only keep the car 2-3 years.

It could easily cost a bomb but it could on the other hand not... chances are slimmer for the latter but I suppose always good to think conservatively in these matters and have a pot for when things go wrong... DAMN you AMG with your big f off engines and bills! Hmmm.. not sure, someone else can chime in? |

That looks lovely josh, seriously does. Love that interior... But it does look or sound anywhere near as good as the amg in my view... Again totally subjective lol. Hard no to like the Maserati interior.
Right... Spotted this video and looks like the guys running on rials too! Not sure I like it but got myself an option if I do decide to keep my wheels |

Due to the lack of CL55 AMGs about with decent history... I'm now consider the E55 AMG (2006/2006 model).. plenty of mod options available and pretty good prices. Only downside is it's 4 door saloon which is off putting since I would prefer the coupe style for now... I'm sure If I cam across the right one and well looked after I'd not delve too much into it being 4 doors.... its a 5.5 v8 supercharged engine... won't have too many complaints LOL.

Sparky - you're coming up with good options my friend lol - thank you.
Mob... I don't want a 335i bro.. I'd rather save for the ///M just because I'm looking to go the 1 step further.. May just end up keeping the 335D unless I find something of interest.. |
