So one of the main problems with Angel Eye upgrades like GP Thunder and such was how they dim once the main headlights come in. So searching around I found this thread!

This seems to be an AMAZING mod, they are running it with arc angel eyes at the moment, I'm assuming this mod with GP Thunders will look VERY impressive at night.


This won't effect LED setups, but for other setups this could have a pretty big impact on how they look at night time. I'm sure the blue tint in the 8500k GP's would look pretty cool at night with the headlights on (hopefully won't look ricer).

Anyone try this or dare to try this? If nobody tries it I may put GP's back in just to try this.

I've done it. The only problem is that 07 335 (not 328) get an adaptive headlight malfunction since wire #9 is in a different spot. It's a shame too because the lights look great at night. I have 8500k gp thunders v2. Jason from Burger Tuning told me he's working on the 07 stuff now. If he gets it to work I'm gonna do it again.

I got a set of the 8500k V2's as well and I'm really curious to see how they would look at night with this mod.

Honestly they look great I love it. I undid the mod and the dealer replaced the headlight under warranty haha. If he gets it to work I'm doing it again

Haha, that's awesome that you got it fixed.

I have a set of brand new LED city visions that I didn't install and I've been trying to hunt down some lux, maybe I'll wait and see if this pulls through first before I put those in.

Haha yea it's a cool dealership it seems.. but I actually just sold my city visions. They looked great but just got too washed out in direct sunlight. I actually tried them because I hated the gp thunders for dimming at night but now if this can work I'll be happy haha

ahhh nice! This has already been done in the past, but it looks like the method posted at N54tech is more simple? same effect, tapping power from the car's electrics to give the angel eyes full power at all times.

let me dig the threads up by Camaross305. If it didn't require to attach some wire harness, i would have went down this route.

there were two groupbuys in 2009 for this but he didn't make much. If i recall correctly, there's less than 100 of these kits out there.

You guys can just wire the AE directly to a 12v source like you cigg lighter for DRL operation/no dimming.

Just use a resistor inbetween the original leads or add a diode and just tap the positive wire.

There's a DIY...I've had this setup for awhile now. I also have my AE wired to my footwell light for welcome lighting.....they dim on/off when I lock/unlock the car.

The OSS dims when headlights are on too.

I really don't have the know how to do this haha, the method on n54tech was very simple and I was hoping it would work for me.

The old kits were pretty expensive considering the simple function they perform, would rather just get better lights haha.

I will post up some pics if I do decide to tackle the DIY and I will try it with various bulbs.
