Sovende96's Build Thread

Sovende96's Build --------------- Instagram: Sovende96

3/21/13 DAY ONE

Bought the 335i from a private seller with 101k. Bone stock, with kidney grills and OEM Bumper lip. Day one pictures after its first quick wash.

Update 3/26/13

Finally borrowed my sisters camera and took a few decent pictures... Put CSL reps on yesterday and I’m not sure I like of how the black rims complement the car... Feedback appreciated.

thanks!

A

Update 3/28/13

After searching a few threads for a lip spoiler option, I came across this one, and many members have ordered them and have had good experiences...

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=658815

For $59 there is absolutely nothing to complain about...
-Free shipping took only 3 days from Taiwan... (Ordered 3/24/13, arrived at my door in CT today 3/27/13)
-Color Match was Fair-Good
-Perfect fitment
-Looks pretty good

For those looking into a less expensive lip spoiler option and don't want to spend 120+, this is a great alternative... I believe he has a few options for e90's aswell...

Heres are a few iPhone shots from today...

Update 4/1/13

Added a few things to the 335 the past week...

-Lux V3 Angel Eyes (bought off a member)
-BMS DCI White Oiled Filters
-Painted Brakes black and added bmw/performance stickers. (credits to psmitty)

Also did some basic maintenance after dynoing a little below normal stock, and having the "reduced power" cel appear. As soon as the maintenance below was done, the light turned right off after a couple minutes of driving...

-Sea Foam through brake booster vacuum hose and oil/fuel (before oil change)
-Oil Change w/fram filter. Castrol 0w40 Fully Synthetic European Formula
-BOSCH S Plugs

Here are a few pictures and soon to come: g5 Jb4, vsrf fmic, clutch pedals, zhp knob and clutch stop...

Update 4/7/13

G5 Jb4 and VRSF 5” fmic ordered. Coming soon!

Update 4/8/13

As others have said previously, I had to do something with the yellow/orange side reflectors. Had a can of extra white plasti-dip laying around and gave it a go before ordering the tinted ones. I was surprisingly happy with the result.

Update 4/9/13

5" VRSF fmic awaiting in garage. Ordered the 5" due to not having to trim anything in the bumper. Shipping from vrsf took 28 hours from the time I ordered to get to my door with Free Ground Shipping ... WOW

Update 4/11/13

Over the past couple days I installed the vrsf fmic, g5 jb4, and a few small things such as a zhp knob, and 20watt angel eye leds from bmw-led.net (as fogs)

Overall, very happy with the 5" fmic and the jb4 is truly a night/day difference and there is just so much damn power on map 1.

The reason I put the leds as fog lights instead of hids is because I originally ordered the h8 leds from bmw-led.net ... Unfortunately, they did not fit so I picked up the lux v3's. The fog light bulbs are h8's so I figured why not, and swapped them. They are very bright in the daytime and match the angel eyes perfectly.

A few crappy iPhone pics below with a dirty car and will have a photo shoot coming soon with a real camera when the lower grill/side reflectors are done.

Thanks

A

Mirror hard wire kit came today for the Valentine V1, and will post on how that goes. :/

Update 4/21/13

Filled up with a 60/40 mix of e85 and with map 5 I am boosting at abt 15psi which is awesome and fast... Also I upgraded my sports wheel (which is for sale as of today) with an m3 oem tri-stitched wheel that I bought off a member. Also added a bms clutch stop...

Thank you to doba_s for the helpful DIY http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242963

Future plans: m3 control arm kit, black out lower grill, V1 mirror hardwire kit, BLACK REFLECTORS, new summer wheels (:/:/:/), m style front and rear bumper from jgmods (summer months)

Update 5/5/13

Had to take a break for a while, but this week installing these drilled/slotted rotors and pads with stop tech lines.

Soon after, m3 style front, vented hood....

Update 5/6/13

The rear rotors and pads were due, so after 6 hours of careful work, swapped the stock front and rear brakes with Drilled/Slotted Rotors, Ceramic pads, Stop-Tech lines, and new sensors. Sold the black csl's today aswell and will be looking into some vmr's in the near future.

Also Hard Wired the V1 to the mirror...

Coming soon: M3 Style Front, Vented Hood, Black Reflectors, Summer Wheels

Update 5/7/13

After bedding and finishing up the brakes yesterday, I thought it was time to pick up the m3 style bumper from greyhound and test the fitment/prepare for paint... Can't wait to put it on!

Also had my engine steam cleaned at the Birdies Meet Sunday in Rye NY, and the whole engine bay looks brand new.

Ordering new wheels tonight after selling the black csl reps!

19" Gunmetal VMR v710's?

Update 5/9/13

Tested the m3 bumper for fitment and it went on "ehh ok" and not in a huge hurry to get it on as it needs to be painted and that is a little out of my reach to diy.

While the bumper was off...

-Blacked out side reflectors
-Blacked out lower grills
-Replaced h8 angel eye bulbs with xentec 8k fogs (so I can actually see at night)
-Tightened the vrsf fmic piping

After selling the black csl reps (black on black on black is just too much,) I ordered hyper silver v710's with hankook v12's! They should be here by middle next week

Coming soon: v710's, cf vented hood, EXHAUST!

Update 5/25/13

-Exhaust here, installing Tuesday
-A few other things also getting installed next week such as LED bulbs all around, cf vented hood, m310 hyper silver 19" wheels...

Update 5/29/13

After a couple weeks, had my car in the hands of ACI Dynamix where Bryce re-alighned the vrsf intercooler to where there was no boost leak! Also installed an m2/Topspeed 1 Cat-Back... Yes, it is only 450 shipped or what not, but I am very happy and turn heads where ever I go. Below is a video of a few start up's, revs, and driveby's filmed by LGFilms... Tips are huge too! Also swapped the stock yellow plate bulbs with no-error leds...

Coming soon: Avante-Garde m310's 19" in Hyper Silver (Scheduled delivery friday!) and cf vented hood. (Saving up for paint)

Also, last weekend my dad needed a replacement for the 535i as the lease is almost up and after a little convincing, he bought this beauty... Picking her up Monday the 3rd!

Update 5/30/13

Finally, Finally, Finally put on some decent wheels! After 4 weeks of hunting/backordering etc (which was a nightmare of 3 different refunds) 19" Avante Garde M310's in Hyper Silver arrived at my door... Left my last class a little early and swapped all four... Very pleased with the v12 tires and I like the look and stance of the m310's aswell...

Iphone pictures below

Update 6/26/13

Over the weekend I put on the cf vented gtr hood from **********s. Fitment is spot on and very impressed. Will most likely either paint it or go with cf splitters/cf spoiler to match it.

Soon to come: jbs cf performance spoiler, oss lights

Update 7/19/13

Finally finished my mod list and will be moving on. The car is offically for sale as of today. Here is a finished cf cpoiler from jbspeed, cf emblems, 12mm spacers, and a de-badge.

There are a few 100+ with a fbo setup... I don't drive much and it should be fine! :thump:

How did you hardwire your V1? I just bought one and am thinking about the mirror hardwire kit.

My own personal opinions are: awesome and clean car in general. Do like the rear spoiler and brakes. If it were my car, I'd put the stock wheels back on, or go for something in hyper silver to stand out against the car/tires/brakes. And I'd paint the reflectors black. But just my feedback. Happy modding!

Thanks for the feedback. I always like to try things a little different (white reflectors) and yes, still debating on keeping the black wheels

Brave soul you are indeed lol, I honestly like the stock 189's on your car. It gives it a nice contrast. Being different is cool but the white reflectors have got to go. It matches nothing. Except for the stickers on the calipers and the front euro plate. IMO I would take all this mod money your shelling out and put it towards maintenance items, esp water pump & thermostat if it hasn't already been replaced, because it WILL go out. Coils, diff oil, u did plugs so you're good there, at 100k you prob want to get your intake valves walnut blasted cause I can only imagine what they look like. The list continues, point being just keep some cash to the side for repairs.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the white reflectors will most likely go, and the reason I purchased the high mileage 335 is because I practically inspected the car for 2 weeks before making an offer. Turbos were replaced at 67k and water pump done at 98k which are two big ticket repairs. And btw, I also like the stock wheels, but both were included in the sale and the black rep csl's were the ones with summer tires.

Thanks, its only been a few weeks ...Will defiantly do the window trim, and going to black out the lower grill most likely tomorrow (before the fmic install) and am considering the black reflectors.
