335is engine mounts
I need to replace my oil pan gasket and figured this a great opportunity to replace my original engine mounts. I remember there was a time when the 335is passenger side mount was the recommended upgrade for us regular 335i (non-"is") owners. However it appears that they are only available as a genuine BMW part. and they're quite expensive, more than triple the price of a single standard Corteco mount. Even the kit from FCP includes the $78 Corteco drivers side mount and the $290 Genuine BMW passenger side 'is' mount.
Is this "upgrade" to the IS mount even worth it? Are there any aftermarket/OEM options in 2025? Are the 034 Motorsports density mounts a worthy upgrade over standard Corteco stuff? |

I had a 2007 335i sedan and now have an e93 335is. I don't think I can notice the IS engine mounts compared to the 335i. I don't see how the price difference is worth it for street driving. Just my opinion.

The is mount is solid rubber instead of oil filled, which should result in a more "connected" feeling especially if you have a MT. But for $290? Nah.
I remember seeing posts about the 034 mounts falling apart after short use. I have also seen issues with their mounts on other vehicle platforms. Not sure if that is still the case though. Poly is always a choice but expect to see an increase in NVH, which might not make sense on a street driven car. People have been filling engine mounts with 3M Window Weld since the dawn of time, but not really sure how long they last, especially in a high heat environment. If your original mounts are leaking, I would imagine even new oil filled mounts will feel like a significant improvement. I'm just not entirely convinced that mounts make as big of a difference on longitudinal engines compared to transverse engines. At the same time, I assume BMW engineers upgraded the is mount for a reason... Last edited by The Nightman; 12-05-2025 at 10:19 AM.. |

I went with a 034 mount on the passenger side and OE on the driver's side just recently installed. Then I read about the issues with the 034 mounts....
I contacted 034, they say they have corrected the problems, we shall see. First, I have no idea how long the mount might have been on the shelf, so no idea if it's one of the newer ones. I also did the urethane trick with 3M window weld, used a bit more on the OE one and only a little on the 034 mount. Kind of felt like snake oil, adding the urethane, but no problems and it shifts great.

The 034 mounts, from everything I've heard, are junk. Two new factory style mounts from Corteco will still be much tighter than old ones and won't add NVH. I'd go that route.
