I haven't noticed any issues with mine, but I haven't read the codes lately either. I have no stalling or cel though. I'd make sure you sealed it up correctly and that the maf isn't actually just bad. Also look at the screw inserts on the flange of the filter, mine were not level and I had to recess / enlargen the screw holes on my custom DIY spacer to ensure it sat level.

Hi guys -
Received a spacer/shim from Tim a month or so ago. Installed it right away. Thought I would wait a bit and drive my 3'er for a few weeks before providing feedback. I did have the bloody SES light on when I installed it. Geez, getting a sunburn from that friggen thing. Light was still on till I acquired a PEAKE code reader tool. Reset the code and the car has run great for the duration. In the mean time I have installed a Rogue - ICON stainless pipe and deleted the worthless piece(s) of garbage secondary/post Cat's. The exhaust sounds so sweet it is un-F'ing-believable! It is too much fun mod'ing these wonderful Bimmers. Many thanks (again) to Tim for facilitating this shim solution to the aFe intake system. Cheers mates.

Hey J Dawg if your reading this, you need to make posts before i can send you a pm. If its easier just contact my email at timmcmahon.2011@gmail.com
Also I haven't received a single fault code since i installed my spacer for the MAF so for all of you out there using it just make sure the spacer is completely sealed up and you should not have any problems (otherwise it might be the MAF with the issue). Happy Holidays everyone!

I have 2006 325 xi and i bought the afe intake model # 51/54-1102 had my mechanic install it.
PROBLEM #1 the coupler 3.5x2 didn"t fit to big had to spend $40 for a new one. PROBLEM #2 losing power now it sucks bad was about to spend $ to reprogram the car. PROBLEM#3 called AFE they said they never heard of this beforeand they cant do anything for me. I told thm to read these post. I sent them the lnk 3 times and he said he never got it. now i have to pay someone to make this spacer so hopefully it works. they said just upgrade to a new one. the company doesnt want to hear the problems they have wrong and fix them just make money. I'm going to call back and see where i get. if anyone else has these isues call maybe if they get enough calls things will change. |

I recently installed the AFE intake. Has anyone ever had a "yellow engine malfunction" symbol come up? Is this symptom linked to the spacing issue? I havnt noticed any performance issues yet with the intake (in a negative way). Until the light. Which after letting the engine cool after along hard drive, and restarted the car, the light and limited power were gone. I've only experienced this symptom once recently.
