I love this forum! Half engine light issue solved.

Little history. My car has 66k miles on it and would hesitate upon WOT and throw the half engine light. The only code I would get is the 3100 code. After doing a brief search I found that my vanos solenoids maybe dirty. I took them out using the diy, cleaned them up, and reinstalled them with also swapping the intake for the exhaust solenoid.

Drove the car around until she warmed up, got on the highway and did numerous back to back pulls and the car didn't flinch once. It didn't even hesitate like it would upon flooring it. At around 3k rpm the car felt like it was misfiring and that went away too..

Those who have never cleaned out these solenoids should. Its so easy and may solve some of those nagging issues like it did mine.

I think every problem I have ever had with this car was solved through this informative forum and awesome diy's!

I know my thread sounds cheesy but there is nothing like being able to beat up on the car again without being scared of going into limp at the next WOT... it usually took about 2-3 WOT pulls to get the limp..

I'm going to look into replacing the solenoids completely...

Good stuff. Cleaning didn't really work for me. 2 new ones solved the problem though.
