Need Help Installing USB socket in glovebox
Hello everyone,
I am ready to install the new CIC I bought. However I doubt I can install the USB socket as I cant find any way around it in the glovebox. I have attached the snapshop of what kind of socket I have in glovebox. Its not for USB socket. Its got 2 holes in it which can be slide up and down!! I would be grateful if anyone could help me with this. I have the USB socket and cable for CIC. I just need to know how I can mount the socket in my glovebox. Thank you |

You can push that torch connector out and replace it with a BMW blanking plate. It's easy enough to cut a hole in it for the USB.
If you don't want to do that, you will need to buy a new panel. |

Thanks for your response. can you send me a part number or specific term which I could search for it? I tried BMW blanking plate but nothing came up. I found this, is this the one? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Torch-Glove-.../dp/B00913VSRG Also, by pushing it out, do you mean pull it out towards myself or push it towards front of the car? A guide of how to remove it would be much appreciated. Thank you |

i found it easier to buy a second hand glovebox from a breakers it cost £30 when it arrived.
Also ive heard you can remove the torch and buy a blank to fit in place but you will need to cut out for usb.

I cut a hole out below the torch socket on my car - looks stock and lets me have both torch and USB...

I sized it up, marked it out, drilled the four corners and a few holes in between to punch out a rough square then filed it straight with a needle file. It's not particularly difficult, but you do need to get the socket the right way up so that the cable clears the side of the fuse box door...

Hi guys,
Newbie here. Just reading all of the info regarding the CIC retrofit. Looks like an amazon mod, very interested in doing this. Upgrade from my CCC setup. Is there a definitive guide of how to? Read many posts but none are full comprehensive Thanks |

Wow, very impressive.
I'd love this in mine, but being a 2006 with no sat nav, not sure its possible, or where to start. Darent even imagine how to fit the older sat nav to my car. Any ideas of someone localish, and costs? |

Not a cheap retrofit. This will give you some idea about the price. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=926657

I think that's reasonable enough tbh. Just a shame you're so far away. I don't know what options my car has at the moment (only picked it up on Friday) so Ill have to investigate. Pretty sure its professional cd radio, but don't think I have Bluetooth (which is a nightmare) It has Aux but not usb (I think) Is there anyway of finding out what options I have? |
