Wives that hate...

...your BMW! Some are curious creatures when it comes to your ride and I'm curious to know who else on this forum recognizes such behavior from their spouses or even girlfriends.

So here's the thing, I've owned 3 Bimmers since I married my wife 18 years ago, but I've owned a handful of other makes as well. BMW's are the only autos that I've ever dumped money into in terms of maint. and mods. It's my favorite brand and I open my wallet much more freely and care for them in the most meticulous way. Of course I do the "Family Man" thing and love it, but sometimes Daddy likes to blow off steam and that's most times spent on my ride. The wife hates it and I mean literally. She now calls my car, The Rolls Royce", yeah right! But anytime a package shows at my door she asks, "What's it for?". Damned if I say, "For the Rolls". She now tells me that she'd like an Audi! WTF? I think a brand war's a brewing!

Get her a bimmer as well. This way she can experience first hand what the fuss is about.

Problem solved.

Wife hated the BMW.

Not because it cost 50k,
Not because I dumped a few K into it.

apparently insanely jealous women associate BMW with Legendary panty dropping expertise.

Just a fun car to drive in my book.

My gf loathed the e30 for the longest time; said it was 'too sharp looking'. A few cruises in it, and her seeing that only men ever notice the car, she warmed up to it.

She loves the e90, though.

What is it that she hates, the money spent, or the time spent, or something else, wasn't sure what you meant. If it's money, simple, earn more of it. In other words, she's not happy you spent another (making it up) 45k on a car (that won't buy you a 4 cyl. 328 equipped today but in 2007 it could get a 335), just get a job that pays 25k more per year. imho you make it back in 36 mos. In other words you tell her yes I wanted to spend 45k more, but I went and got a job that pays 25k more, so I did something about it. Nothing to hate.

For those who say that's why I didn't get married, well, that's not totally logical either, but to each his own!

My wife doesn't like any of my cars which have manual transmissions and generally have the stiff factory sport suspension that get upgraded to something even stiffer after a few years. But she's bought me car stuff for Christmas and birthdays over the years, including aftermarket sway bars, a skidplate and a strut tower brace. She knows how to drive a manual -- she learned on her dad's IH tractor -- she just doesn't like to. It's not "hate". (The upside of this is that nobody else ever wants to drive any of my cars!) She drives the kinds of cars she likes and I drive the kind I like.

Married nearly 30 years now.

Eurocars might be an expensive hobby, but they're a lot cheaper than drugs or younger women. So I've heard.

I think my car started my last breakup argument.. Funny how it did that not saying a word. She knows me it seems. Girlfriend at the time pretty much hated the car, then comes along this lady who I gave way to in a cross walk who gave a thumbs up and a smile to say "nice car". Gf was furious! Lol

no problems here. She likes the e90 a lot and will drive it when we go on trips. She's a little nervous about driving stick, so she doesn't drive it much. She doesn't care how the m3 rides (track suspension) but will ride 2-4hours with me to go to the race track and hang out with me all day at the track. She has her own expensive hobbies. I don't quite understand them, but she enjoys them, so who am I to give her crap about it. Likewise she knows this car thing was here before her and I enjoy it, and she wants me to be happy.

Luckily for me my wife was raised by a 5.0 mustang loving father so cars were a big part of her childhood. I remember when I got my new black kidneys and put them on her response was "What the hell took so long? Now put some bigger wheels on this thing." And now she pretty much drives my e90 and I'm in her civic....

Not married yet, but I must say my gf is pretty laid back with the money I put in my car, even though she calls me an idiot for doing it. But still gets me some small stuff and go to shows all the time with me. Heck sometimes she'll sit beside me and read whats going on on the forums. Now her mom.... that's a different story....

Look at all the single players on this board!!!!!!

My wife to be loves my car she doesn't love the fact she's not allowed to drive it. I've had it for about two months and she has driven it only about a two miles. Regardless of insurance or warranty, the car is currently pure and unmolested and I'll be damned if anyone but me rapes her of that.

My wife loves to drive our E93 - we often fight over the keys in the morning. But she also loves her other car, which is an Audi A6. With both cars she really appreciates the power and the design and the handling. However she does complain (justifiably) that the E93 interior and amenities don't stack up to what Audi offers. It seems that BMW must have heard this a lot, as the newer cars from BMW have closed the gap in this area significantly. In fact we just placed an order for a new X5, which both of us felt is superior to the Audi competition - the Q7.

It would have to be a new one under warranty.

I couldn't imagine the damage to ones pocketbook buying a used BMW for a women.

Call me whatever you want but 9 times out of 10 women beat on cars like no man can.

Here's my story:
My wife forced me to get the BMW Performance Exhaust & of course the after market wheels.
I ask her to drive my car and she doesn't want to, because its our baby and she only trusts me to drive it.
She loves to go to BMW meets and other Car meets !

Nothing wrong with her wanting an Audi but she needs to go back to the kitchen and just make you a sandwich. Stat.
