Or does the whole car need to be upgraded (which will take the whole day).
Whole car does not need to be updated however all the modules of CCC requires updating. AFAIK, it takes more than 30 minutes and not sure who told you that.

So if I want the newer screens is it worth doing or should I just get the whole car done?

Its your choice. You will benefit from complete update of CCC for the new screen and not the complete car.

If the chap has autologic, then I guess he will have to update the whole car. I believe that autologic does not give you option to update just one module.

Full car update would be better, as it will also update your DME (engine) software as well, and on an M3 this is night and day difference if you are on the factory version. Id ask if you have had the security update done as well.

Apologise for the ignore. What security update ?

And would it make a difference to a 330d?

its the update to your car that stops theifs easily steeling it without the key, you know that thing that was on watchdog?

id always like to have the latest updates on my car, that way nothing unexpected (or expected) is going to happen. If a situation has occured on someone elses car and been fixed by an update, id rather have that update than experience it at some point myself.

I have no idea what difference it will make on a 330d, but on the M3 the way the car felt was noticable.

Thanks.

Would be good to know from anyone else if the update was noticeable on a 330d.

each to their own but if you cant see the benefits without a gain at all then this is probaby not for you, its not like its going to make a remap style difference, if your looking for that then get a remap

That's what I'm trying to work out. If upgrading the car is beneficial enough (if so, what are the benefits) or just stick to upgrading the ccc firmware (quicker option).

I was recently put in touch with a coder local to me which turned out to be a disaster. I appreciate some may have a good story to tell, but I thought it would be worth highlighting as it could save someone money and a lot of hassle.

After being provided details of a coder (Sam from www.suckmydip.co.uk) to upgrade the software on my car. I called him and he told me the CCC firmware can be updated in 30-45 mins and there was no need to do the whole car and he can come out and do it. All looking good so far.
He came out to do the upgrade and after spending 1 hour said he couldn’t do it. The idrive was frozen and he had to set things back to factory wiping the frm and some idrive settings. He said I need to bring it to his workshop and gave me his address (via text) which was approx. 30 miles away. Things not looking so good.

I went along a few days later after confirming if we were still on the day before. I got to the address he provided and it was a house. I waited for about 30 mins and called him a number of times. No answer. Then a lady came out of the house and when asked she had never heard of him !!! So I tried calling him again, several times and still no answer. After waiting around for an hour I gave up and went home.

This guy made me come out 30 miles at 8am, gave me the wrong address and didn’t answer my calls. Luckily I hadn’t paid him but it’s the hassle and the reputation these sort of people give other genuine people out there.

I now have to go back to my original coder (remote coding) to get the idrive and frm back to what it was before Sam touched it.

Your better off going to the dealer or someone (indy) who has the autologic and get it done properly.

Yep definately. I suppose we learn from our mistakes. Hopefully others can learn from mine.

Just need to find a ccc (8 button) at a reasonable price to make the software upgrade worthwhile.

Hi guys just wondering if anybody could help with some coding information.

I basically need the codes that require changing and instructions for a 2008 e92 lci taillight retrofit!

Many thanks to everyone in advance

If I wasnt keeping mine for when I put my car back to standard I would of sold it to you. Check ebay and perhaps ask Sam (Makkan00) or lemans 330d as they always seem to have access to BMW parts possibly from a breakers (I am assuming), or at least they know of someone who has done a CIC upgrade and has their CCC for sale at a good price.

No disrespect but if you search, you will get answer to what you have asked. It has been asked / discussed multiple times which is beyond the scope of this thread.

I appreciate the answer and understand the frustrations when similar questions are asked, I have searched and come across various answers, with no coding knowledge I was unsure of the exact and correct method so was seeing if anybody could provide a simple and definite answer.

Cheers

Easiest and simple option would be to google 'autologic' and find their recommended garage near to you and worth of ringing them.
