Rough startup after new spark plugs at RMP-not impressed with service

Got my spark plugs changed by RMP today and notice a rough startup every time I start the car now. The rpm's jump around for the first five seconds or so and the car shakes. This was not there before.

Wondering if it could be bad plugs?

Also, there seems like there is oil spill around the oil filter area (i also had an oil change and vcg done). Not sure why the spill wasnt cleaned up...

Called after and asked for Rocco about the plugs but he was out for a test drive so was told I will get a callback. The callback was from a person other than Rocco who said drive it for the weekend and see how it goes. I asked if I can bring it in tomorrow (since its my day off and I work in downtown) to get it checked and was told that they are closed.

I think its reasonable to get a callback by Rocco (the main person who I dealt with when I took it in and paid).

Not impressed with RMP to be honest..

I am not trying to bash here. That is not my intention. My intention for this thread was to ask forum members for their opinion and also to show my dissatisfaction about the service.

I have sent you an email as you asked.

I've never been to RMP but I really don't see the complaint here.

Car was serviced and now the installed parts might be causing a problem. Could be the parts fault or the labor fault. Won't know till the mechanic checks it out.

They told you that they are not opened on weekends but to monitor it and come back on Monday. (Nothing wrong with this answer)
When you go back then you need to speak directly with the person who worked on the car.

The only thing I could see wrong is the oil spill.

But things like this is why I check out the car before leaving the mechanics.

Exactly... I wait until the problem/issue has been resolved or after it has been attempted to be resolved before posting anything! In fact, when I get work done, I give myself 'at least' a week before giving opinions.

To post dissatisfaction before an attempt at resolution only creates bad blood and negativity... you want someone working on your car that's pissed?

Good customer service would mean understanding what my issues are in order to resolve them, not making an assumption and accusing me based on false information.

There are plenty of great shops in the GTA, I look for the best combo of price, expertise, AND customer service. At RMP I think you get about 2.5 of these. Not bad, I just want better.

you want 3/3, work on the car yourself.

I've had no issues with these guys. RMP - Great Service, Fair $.

No need to work on the car myself, I've found other mechanics who I'm happy to work with.

If I work on the car myself, I only get 2/3, since I have limited expertise!

I just changed my own plugs a week ago to the NGK's with a single electrode as I was getting high rpm misfires.

The misfires are gone......but I get a lumpy cold start just like you.

Gapped each plug myself to .022 and triple checked them - used a torque wrench to tighten them down.

Goes to show that even if you do everything by the book.....issues can still arise.

I communicated with Rocco by email as per his request here and he asked me to go see him if the startup issues persist on monday.

About the oil spill, this is the picture of what I mentioned about the oil spill. Look at the dark area under the oil filter cap.

No one asked for your opinion.

LOL that is not even an oil spill, that is just gunk around the oil filter housing. Which is absolutely normal. You went to a mechanic, not a effing detailer.

did you work on his car before this pic, if the person feels he hasn't been given top notch service and choses to vent on forums that's his right -

hopefully everything get resolved quickly bemmer328. I've been to rmp and I have nothing but great things to say about them.

RMP is the best. The OP is a complete joke, whining about a misfire and upset because they aren't open after hours? Give me a break. Rocco is the man and is very fair, very helpful, and there's a reason he's Toronto's undisputed independent German car mechanic.

I will never understand people! I wonder how credible reviews are...This review/rant is based on ignorance. The OP should really get a car that does not require the maintenance of a European car or go to Canadian Tire and see what will happen...Rocco replied, mitigated the concern, said he would fix it, come back on Monday, rectified the issue...not sure what else the OP wants...

Car idle has become worse so its not only startup now. It stalled once yesterday when I was waiting at a traffic light.

Dont feel any issue when accelerating though and still no codes. I personally think one of the plugs maybe bad (since issue was not there before plug change) but then again I am not a mechanic.

I had sent an email to Rocco to check if I can come today but I think he didnt check his email yet. Havent had a chance to call him yet.
