Bimmertech PP82DSP for Hifi system
There havent been any discussions here on e90 Forums. So I though I will post this first.
I installed a BimmerTech PP82DSP (Match) in my car with Hifi and all stock speakers. The sound improvement over stock is leaps and bounds ahead. I actually bought a used one from F30 forum which had the tune for BSW speakers. I reduced the output level so that it does not put much pressure on stock speakers. The sound imaging is awesome especially for the drivers seat. Also, there is no bluetooth echo issue that plagued the MS-8. I previously had an XD600 which is also great as an Amp but made my stock speakers feel a little too weak. The treble was completely missing on stock tweeters. But the PP82DSP makes them alive again. I had also spoken to Ken at MusicarNW who also sell the PP82DSP (a little on the pricier side). Comparing the 2, Musicar uses the 12V constant from the battery while the bimmertech uses stock AMP harness' power. So you probably get a little more power using Musicar's setup. In either case, you cannot go wrong. I am in the process of replacing my stock speakers slowly. So I can only imagine the sound improving here on I should probably mention I am using Dynavin N6 in my car. So the sound quality may vary if you have stock radio. |

I've installed my bimmertech pp82dsp in my e92 using the bimmertech e9x mount and can confirm its a seamless fit.
I'm also running the latest bimmertech f30 tune for bsw stage 1, and it's pretty awesome. Looking forward to their e9x tune! |

Maybe I missed it but for which set-ups/cars does Bimmertech offer tuning files? Also, is the tune optimized for the driver or is it a compromise for driver and passenger? What does the final response curve look like?

1. f30 BSW speakers, OEM underseats 2. f30 BSW speakers, jehnert underseats 3. f30 HiFi speakers, OEM underseats there may be an e9x tune of some sort (HiFi?) coming out soon (today?) how can you tell if it's optimized for driver or not? the delays seem to suggest they are optimized for driver (for the BSW based tunes i've seen). |

I think the default tune is for drivers seat and they are slowly adding tunes for various models (e90/F30 with options for different speakers). From my F30+BSW tune, I thought the sound was still pretty solid from passenger seat and also from the rear seat. So they prolly dont go full blown drivers seat specific tune. With MS-8, that is one thing I noticed where the sound in the rear seat was almost completely missing unless I set it up for all seats.

No is not. I'm not a fan of center channel. All of our project cars have GREAT sound stage without a center channel.... And its easier to tune a car that does not have one.

I am running a center channel with my helix dsp but can't really advocate it. it is more of a had a good center speaker and with the dsp and my amps had the extra channel so why not. I think I appreciate it most for talk radio. the problem here with the helix units are they don't produce a true center like the ms8. mine is merely L+R.
