07 328i won't start, help video attached**SOLVED**

hey guys, my 07 328i 6 speed won't start, it started earlier this morning and took a few seconds to start, it's actually been doing this a lot lately were it takes longer then usual to start, I feel like it's the battery because about a week ago after working an overnight shift, I went out to my car to start it and put that key in the ignition and some sort of line ran through the little display that shows you yours MPG and other stuff, and nothing turned on and it
wouldn't let me take my key out of the ignition. so I ended up jumping the car and it worked, so I'm guessing it's the battery but I'm not sure take a look at the video I attached and please any help would be appreciated.

car has 76k miles on it, and is a 6 speed 328i 07

It's either your battery or your starter. How old is the battery?

FYI: If you replace the battery, it must be registered in the car's computer, and if it isn't in the same exact spec (AGM vs. non-AGM, aH rating, etc.), then it must also be coded.

If you have access to a BMW code scanner there may be shadow codes to help with the diagnosis.

Have the battery tested and charged. Starters are a common failure in these cars. Sometimes a starter failure sounds like a bad battery (slow cranks) - it did on mine.

Honestly I don't know how old the battery is, I purchased the car Feburary 2015, and have had it since and I haven't replaced the battery. I also tried to jump the car and tried to start it but didn't have any luck. I really want to figure out what the issue is instead of bringing it to the dealer who alone will charge me 200$ to tell me. It literally just makes a click and that's it.

If it won't crank with a jump, then its probably your starter.

If it's the starter my warranty will covers it, if I send it to the dealer I'll pay probably half the actual cost after warranty.

Take your battery to AutoZone and they can test it for you. There may also be a date code on the battery. If the battery is fully charged and it still won't start, most likely it's the starter.

Don't go to the dealer, find an indy who specializes in BMWs.

If the warranty pays for it, then by all means go to the dealer.

The only reason people say to avoid the dealer is the high prices. Generally they do good work, but you can get it done a lot cheaper elsewhere.

I would still check your battery first, you don't want to tow it to the dealer and find out it's the battery and pay $$$ for a battery and coding cause you are stuck there.

But it's probably your starter. 99% sure.

Was able to pop/tow start it this morning since it is a 6Speed MT, was able to avoid towing it so I drove it to the dealer. Having them replace the starter. Know it's not the battery since it pop started in 3rd gear down a hill.

Nice. I wanted to bump start mine when my starter died, but I was in a flat parking lot with not enough room to push it fast enough to pop the clutch. So I had to pay for a tow.

Was the starter, starter was replaced and car starts up perfectly. Problem is, after dropping this car off it seems like something was either touched or messed with because now I'm getting a pop noise when I turn the wheel either all the way to the left or right.

What did it cost you to repair?

I had the same issue it was also my starter. 154 for the starter and about another 100 for tools lol (just moved states and didn't have my tools). Side note now my ac isn't working. Any idea if I could have missed something putting it back together? Or that's just my awesome luck lll

I can do my Nissan's starter in my sleep (had to do it 3X due to lousy replacement parts)...thought it was much harder on the E9x's.

Does the battery still need coding even if you hold the charge via a booster during the change?
