Installed R1 Concepts Drilled and Slotted Rotors and Akebono Brake Pads. Apparently these pads have close to zero brake dust. Rotors look great. Got them for $345 on a forum labor day sale. Pads were $145 from Tire Rack. Install was $189. So total was $679. Very happy with the outcome. Will report back on how the pads are biting after they get a chance to bed in.

I have had these Pad on reg rotors since June 2013.
and so far 72k km on the car since almost 50K Miles.

hwy and city both.
Brake Dust..... if OEM was 10 on a scale of 1-10
then Akebono is like 0.01

it still there but so not noticeable.

I see light dust like every 4 months.

also DO NOT BED the Brake Pads after installations.
NOT Required.
and you will feel as if the brakes are soft in braking for the first 2 Tanks.

Then its like OEM.

That's really good to know. I look forward to no longer cleaning my wheels once a week

Also I did read that... when I said "bed in" I should have said "break in". I really meant take the layer of zinc off the rotors. And regardless of what they say I'm sure the pads don't perform to optimal capability until, like you said, after 2 full tanks or so.

get some SOS Pads from Dollar Store.
Clean the Inside of each wheel.... 4 Years, my wheels are clean from the inside.
PS: Mine were Bakes Black brake dust on Stock 162s. (the inside of each wheel.)
4 sos pads and running hose did it. (1 sos pad on each wheel.)
Also Point to note I cleaned installed new rotors also at the same time...
so I took time on each brake component and really removed every spec of Brake dust. Brake Cleaner and a few sanding foam pads.
Caliper Brackets, anywhere where brake dust accumulated.

also the rear wheel squeak during slow turns. look it up.
bend that metal.
I also adjusted my ebrake while the rear wheels were off. 4 clicks now.

Thank you for the advice but personally there is no way I would take steel wool (aka sos pads) to my powder coated wheels. Not sure how you didn't scratch the hell out of them...

Stock wheels are not powder coated inside.
seen a few members recommend that for the heavy brake dust build up on the inside.
you just do it lightly, you do not lightly.
also, the sos pads were not 100% steel wool.
by the time 1 wheel was done, the pad was in no condition to be used on another wheel.

BUT I agree, with you, the idea of SOS Pads on wheels scared me also.
I was careful not to touch any part of outside or shiny parts.

Really appreciate that! Yea the OSS angel eyes are a game changer but I'm not sure the company is opporational anymore. Reached out to them a few months back with no response. But there's other options out there.

And no bought the car with the calipers painted but planning on redoing them very soon. Highly suggest the R1 Concepts rotors, especially if you have wheels with high visibility through to the rotors like mine.

I'm definitely going with the pad/rotor combo like you... Break dust is killing me with chrome rims. Not sure what color calipers I want to go with though...

Yes highly suggest Akebono pads + R1 Concepts rotors. ONLY downside I have after owning the rotors for a few weeks is that rust builds up after rain in the drills and slots and it doesn't get scraped out when breaking because the pads don't touch inside the crevasses if you get what I'm saying. More so the slots. Will have to go in there with a screw driver to scrape it off. But if you garage the car this shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately I'm at college and park it outside.

And what color car do you have? I'll give you my opinion on caliper color..

Edit: just realized you own the sick Frozen Grey I just commented on. Hmm hard choice anything flys with that color. I'm thinking like a gold or something bright would look nice to contrast with the frozen grey. Red is very common but can't go wrong. Yellow would be nice too... Black if you want to be subtle. Yellow or Gold my pick.
