I ended up picking this up after some negotiating on the price. Very particular owner. Needs an 90k service and a VCG. Love the color combo. Very similar and very different from my E36 M3.

Is the 3 stage intake worth the effort? Wish it had a little more oomph.

E: 38* here this morning. Heated seats+heated steering wheel=A+. Loving this car so far.

I think the 3 stage intake is definitely worth the effort. The extra torque really helps with the weight of the wagon and xdrive on mine.
If you were in my area I'd toss you my key so you could do an a/b comparison, but it is immediately noticeable.

Seconded. Also did the AA headers on mine and the car feels so much livelier. Highly recommend both.

Congrats!

3IM is def worth the install. It’s not going to turn the car into a winner on the drag strip it helps. 3IM made a more noticeable difference than m50 mainifold on my s52.

Yeah that was a deal, especially if you negotiated lower. He never got back to me so glad someone that will appreciate it picked it up!

Not the best interior color, and no sport seats or xenons... I think if I was going to spend anything on one of the 175k+ mile cars it would need to be set up very well from the factory, as the money to retrofit higher end accessories would get eaten up by maintenance costs.

Description says it's "mint" but then he mentioned in our exchange that there is a dent in a door.
I guess there is a previous accident on it before current owner. He thinks it's because of the dent in the door.
I asked about cooling system maintenance (radiator, water pump, etc) seller replied with: "A/C is ice cold"
The right front tire is almost bald on the outer edge.

No VIN listed, but it's 2011 RWD, Sport, 6-spd, Grey over what looks to be Chestnut Brown leather with aluminum trim, Xenons. I don't see the miles listed anymore, but I think it was originally listed around 111K miles. Price is listed at $12k.

Aloha,

Firstly thank you for this awesome thread and community, looking forward to officially joining with an e91 of my own (currently in a loaded 06 X3 M-sport, Mystic over black that's at 167k, 117k of them mine). Long time member of r3v, bimmerfest, bimmerforums, x3outpost, etc) I reached out to this guy and have a little more info. Still at $12k. Looks like he is a BMW tech. 2nd owner. Last 7 of vin are a189862 if you'd like to look it up, and here's the CARFAX.

Here is what he's told me with some questions on my end (he doesn't volunteer anything):

"117k, all maintenance up to date, few month ago top and bottom gaskets replaced and oil filter housing gasket too. Car in perfect working conditions."

"Said that damaged was in the driver side by the doors, repairs were made very well. Clutch not been replaced nor the brakes as far as I know. Brakes still have plenty life left and the clutch grips very good. Don’t think the water pump been changed and so the thermostat. Oil change was made when the gaskets were replaced and the brake fluid was serviced as well."

It's a tough one for me as I'm in Hawaii and I don't particularly get a good vibe from the guy via messaging. He just doesn't seem overly forthcoming. Minor red flags for me with the story variance on the accident. The car is interestingly specc'ed though and a classy color combo, if I were within driving range I'd be looking at it for sure. I'll pass, between the vibe and the upcoming maintenance. On the hunt for the right car I can ship home and drive for a long while.

Aloha!

Lyle

3-Stage is TOTALLY worth it! Should have come from the factory like that.
Also, if the starter hasn’t been replaced, do it at the same time as the intake. It’s nearly the same labor. Also check the oil filter housing gasket. Much easier at the same time.

I saw his FB profile said he was a BMW Tech, but after the communication I had I began to doubt that. No tech would talk about the A/C system when you ask about water pump/cooling system maint. Also, the wear on the RF tire is was too suspect to not fix if you’re a Tech. I know other BMW Techs that said that excellent front tires in that size get pitched everyday at the dealer so a car can be BMW Certified. Makes no sense why it wouldn’t be fixed. Also the accident “story.”

I looked all over for a VIN, so instead blew up that one photo on my phone. I normally send snarky notes to dealers when they make that mistake since they should know better.

Sold for $5k which is a steal considering the near exact same car just went for $12k on BAT. Except this one had no accident history, no open recalls and my favorite color combo.
