There's a screen shot on the pimpmynav homepage that 'appears' to have a more 3d-ish screen. Is that a shot from the 2008-2 disc?
cheers Bren |

I now have the 2008-2 disk, just trying to add the POI's, but realised I only have the pocketgps POI's in an OV2 format, anyone know if they can be converted to asc format. Or can anyone else help me out?
Thanking in advance |

Converting a .ov2 file to a .asc file isn't particularly difficult, but it's incorporation into a working nav pro image will take a little longer. All the best. Viv |

Thats spot on, and its working. I found some other converters, but they would not combine all the catagories together where as your POIedit does it all, the rest of the process I am happy with

No, Carl, you haven't, yet.
Sergei has asked me to let you all know that initial 'product acquisition' has been completed. He is now in talks with his friend, 'Big D', to get hold of the latest European speedcam data. Apparently, this will be 'slipped good' into the original data, for everyone's enjoyment. Testing will apparently start this week, as soon as the dual layer discs arrive from the Croatian office. Sergei will also continue to modify the data for the benefit of all of his European friends, not just for those from the UK- AD,AT,BE,CH,CZ,DE,DK,ES,FI,FR,GB,GI,GR,IE,IT,LI,LU ,MC,NL,NO,PT,SI,SK,SM,VA Sergei will post more information as soon as the '2008-2 SatNavPro Sergei's Special Edition DVD' has passed his stringent QC procedures, apparently. In Sergei's own words, 'Dis Special disk is like comparings some sh*tsy car with Alpina B3. 'Nuff said yes'. Viv |

Be careful if you intend using the pocket gps data. There is a hidden ID in the speed camera file, which allows the site administrators to trace an uploaded 'copy' back to the member who downloaded it.
Have a look at the copyright bit on the bottom right here: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras This is all a bit heavy handed, when you consider that this data was originally available for free and updated by site members through goodwill. However, the owners of the site have clearly decided that this is their intellectual property and are enforcing that. So .. if the speed cam data finds it's way onto Sergei's download, there is a real chance that the person providing it will have his or her membership of pocketgps terminated without a refund. |

Also, if any data were to be sourced from pocketgps, it would have had to have processed using a Perl script before it could be used on the nav disc. Is anyone likely to reverse engineer the process, just to find out if there is a hidden code in the original .ov2 file? Sergei will carry out his usual checks on the data & supplement it if necessary, I expect. Viv |

This is from the MarkIV-system, used in the "old" X5 and so on. Also, check the date on the picture...

I know for certain that pocketgps have analysed a modified .asc file, used it to trace the member who downloaded the original database and cancelled their membership without refund. |

Thank god for Sergi Industries.
An 08/02 upgrade would be gratefully received given the rash of new yellow lamposts that have sprung up in London since November. |

Managed to get a few hours to add safety camera's onto my 2008-2 disk. Worked first time, and for some reason it's loading/reading quicker from the DL disk, than it is from the std disk.
All in all it was not too hard, although they have changed the naming and directory structure a bit, so needed a bit of concentration. Very happy with it, not seen any new features, but not really looked. I am guessing from looking at the directory structure, they have just added a few languages, added some countries, and updated some of the data |

I haven't got round to adding the speedcam data yet. what source did you use for the POI's, and did you combine all countries into a single file, or multiple file? |

I used the pocketgps tom tom database, It was a few months old, but good enough for me to prove the point.
I used a tool that vivekk mentioned in a earlier post to combine all the speed cameras into 1 single file, which is around 570KB. Not had any problems yet, in fact I would say its quicker than my original 2007-1 disk |

Does anyone know if I can add the safety camera data to my disk if the disk does not include a map for my country?
I have the 2008-1 disk, but unfortunately it does not have Poland yet. I don't want to invest the time if it can't work. I realize all I will see at best is a black screen with the safety cameras and I won't even be sure that they are on the road I am on. But it is still better than having no information about the cameras at all. Thanks for any help, and thanks for the UK site - it's hard getting info in Poland when you don't speak Polish. I understand the Polish BMW owners who paid euro 5,000 for navigation and still don't have maps for Poland are fuming, including me - for this reason alone I wish I would have gone Audi A5 - at least they have the map for Poland even if the ride of the car suffers.
