Amplifier Issue
Hello everyone,
Apologies for a slightly lengthy post as my first post but wanted to get as much information in upfront as possible so here goes :- The display unit on my CCC equipped 2006 330d M Sport Touring failed (reboot , interference etc) leading to the main CCC unit having to be sent away for repair ( and the bluetooth unit in the boot been replaced as this was believed to be the cause of the failure). Unfortunately the courier last my repaired unit on its way back to me but the guy who did the repair replaced it with a reconditioned unit for me. The replacement unit had been coded the same as the original unit as the repair center still had all my data files from the original repair. On fitting the replacement unit an issue emerged - no sound from the system - neither audio from CD / Radio etc or system sounds - reverse warning etc. Also cannot select AM or FM as an audio source although they do appear on the menu. The repair center thought there might be a fault on the MOST circuit but have been round the circuit disconnecting each unit ( basically the CD changer and the bluetooth unit in the boot - the car has an audio amplifier in the boot too but it does not have an optical connection - wire only - i.e. it's not the Logic 7 type amp). With everything connected I can see the fibre optic signal at the MOST diagnostic port in the passenger footwell so ASSUME that the optical signal is getting round the ring OK. I have also connected NCExpert and have been guided through coding CGATE,CHOST, CAUD, CTUNE and CAPPL just in case something was not coded to the car properly. So I ended up being a bit stuck - I wonder if the audio amp is bust but do not know how to test that and was also wondering if was possible that the reconditioned CCC head unit might have been previously used in a LOGIC7 equipped car and therefore there may be some coding in the system that needs removed / disabled to stop the audio being sent down the fibre loopo to an amplifier that is no longer there ? As I said earlier sorry for the length of my first post but wanted to capture everything. All thoughts and suggestions very gratefully received as completely stumped at the moment !! |

Did your amp and sound system work before you sent the Head Unit in?
BMW has put amplifiers in a location that is subject to being drowned by block drains. You should do a visual inspection just to be sure. If this car is new to you anything is possible. Last edited by ctuna; 09-13-2023 at 02:59 PM.. |
