AFAIK, CA has actively scanned checksums for the older cars during the smog process and has built their own database. To pass you need to match a checksum that they have, which works for the Z4 because the i and Si have the same DME.

Again, not telling anyone what to do, but multiple members (including myself and an IRL friend of mine) have passed recently with the 328i->330i tune installed.

it should 100% pass if all they look at is the data from the emissions. No emissions settings were altered (other than what would be different from a 325i/328i to the 330i).

But again, if they look at the checksum - which they are allowed to do by law - it will 100% not pass that test.

I’ve had a checksum cause me to be state reffed here in California. So if I did this, I would need to flash back every 2 years. What’s the easiest software or tuner that captures your stock tune?

Does a tune exist for the N52 in the (F25) X3? It already has the 3iM paired to the 8 speed.

it's right there on the website. just download and flash it the same way you flash the 330i tune. here's an example - make sure the hardware string matches the tune you're using (will most likely be MI20S if you've got a 328i, 921S if you have a 325i or 330i). You don't need to flash the 0pa, just the 0da (I don't think they check the program checksum).

The 0da flash just take no more than 5 mins....why not just flash it if have concern about not passing the test?

attached is screen shot bimmer labs status screen at end of tune programming. The RSA delete went fine, no errors, but cannot get any tune to write.

I am prepping to do the 3IM swap on my E91 328 xDrive. Looking through the website I’m not seeing the euro gm transmission tune anymore. Is that no longer available?

Dude you can just use the corresponding 330 trans 0da ZB file in daten to upgrade, BUT!!!!!

You MUST! MUST! MUST! use bimmergeek cable or cable with flashed new firmware or icom to flash GM trans, otherwise, if you use cheap chinese cable, you will brick your GM1912 trans!!

Too many people bricked GM trans and that's one of the reason they take it done.

I can check remotely, mostly it's about setting or your voltage.
