My car is still in warranty but the Stealer failed to sort it out!!!!
I finally lost patience today and washed ALL the door rubbers with warm water and Fairy Liquid (Lemon) To my complete amazement it has totally sorted the problem out. looks like getting rid of all the Silicon, WD40, Gummi Pflegge and Various rubber treatments was all i had to do. Really very happy indeed. Now onto the next rattle/squeak. PS Original Fairy Liquid may also work |

My dealer did rectify it - told me not to use Gummi Pflege as they have something better - worked for a month ish and now back again worse than ever. Come on holiday in it this week, and decided to try my Gummi Pflege before setting off as they were doing my head in. Wished I hadn't bothered as now worse than ever!! Fairly Liquid Lemon will be applied on mine me thinks!! Last edited by M3-FAST; 09-06-2010 at 12:30 PM.. |

If you stop waxing your door shuts (or even wiping a used cloth over them) then you shouldn't have the problem.
Just wipe the shuts and seals with a clean cloth, soaked in a warm weak mix of some mild detergent (flash or similar) the same that you'd use for interior cleaning and degreasing. This keeps the seals clean and product free - no squeaks or anything. |

Door seals FIXED!!
cheers Boyd They have done my tits in today, squeeking worse than ever, so on the way home tonight, got some lemon washing liquid (none Fairy, Tesco own brand works just as well ha ha) - made a strong solution up and washed the rubbers down, both on the car and doors. Been out in the car tonight and SILENCE!!! The squeeking/creaking has stopped. Hope it stops that way! |

My ex-boss had this issue on his 5er and the only cure in the end was the special BMW gunk as in the photo posted by Mallard. Everything else failed PDQ.

I used to get my 5 series washed in the supermarket car park and every time it brought the creaking back. It's down to the use of silicon based waxes and detergents. |

Maybe time to swap the snowfoam brand? Never had this issue with previous cars though, or the missus cars which get washed with the same stuff. Weird BMW traits eh |

I had this problem for a month or so and tried all the posted remedies but the squeaks and creaks kept coming back. Did a bit more forum searching and other research and found that in the States they replaced the Gummi stuff with Carbaflo KSP 105 as it didn’t harm the seals (I’m not sure if this is the same stuff that BMW use in the UK now).
The downside is that it is normally quite expensive however Rimmers are getting rid of their stock at a knock down price of £4.99. See: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-CYK100070 I wound down all the windows cleaned the inside of the window runners and top of the doors (the felt strip) with Isopropyl alcohol swabs and sprayed lightly with Carbaflo cleaning the overspray with a clean dry sponge. Two weeks now and still silent. Hope this helps. Trev |

Can someone explain what this squeaking is (I know what squeaking sounds like), but my beemers never did it and neither have any of my cars since and having read this thread, I'm breaking all the 'rules' as I wipe the door rubbers with the same cloth that has dried the car having snow foamed it and used car shampoo.
Are you lot hearing this squeaking whilst driving or what? |

In my case it was an annoying creak next to my right ear every time the car went over a bump or turned a corner, which seemed to come from the door seal. Some days it was quite loud and on other occasions hardly noticable. I've owned 8 BMWs from coupes to saloons and this is the first time I've had the problem but it seems to be very common (a google for carbaflo bmw throws up a lot of discussion on the subject). Like you I've always dried the doors with the same chamois or drying cloth. I've washed the car several times now since applying carbaflo using the same method and no problems, however my fingers will remain crossed for a few weeks yet! Trev |

BMW fixed it once and it was pretty good for a month or so but it gradually returned. They blamed it on the car being too clean! The tech commended me on how clean all the door shuts were etc... BUT claimed that the cleaning agents were getting onto the rubber and causing this creaking noise. They cleaned the rubbers and applied some 'agent' which left a light greasy looking coating all over them. As this gradually wore off the noise returned. Last time it was in the dealer having the steering lock control unit replaced I asked them to re-visit this problem. When I asked the service-desk guy what they had done he said 're-aligned the door hinges and aqua-pel'd the rubbers' - I didn't think much about this until last night and after reading this thread I decide to google 'Aquapel' - this turns out to be a silicon free water repellent agent, similar to rain-X and designed to be used on glass???? Surely BMW haven't applied this to my rubbers?? Anyway, I am gonna give them a good clean wih some solvent wipes and get the carboflo that Mr Gunner recommends |

Thanks for explaining Trev and Paul, would love to hear this squeaking but I'm sure you're more interested in irradicating the noise.
Don't wash with a car being too clean Paul do you......... shite pun in there! Hope you get it sorted gentlemen. |

I'm sure that mine are squeakier than Pauls! They'd blow your socks off!!! It is just the most annoying sound. On mine it only happens when driving very slowly especially over speed ramps.
Unfortunately despite me using all variations of Fairy liquid my squeaks came back. So much so that I have been spending a lot of time on the 350z forum. I have been back to the dealer again (twice) and they appeared to fix it but after a few days it comes back. They have told me that I need to use vaseline on the rubbers (or seals as they call them). Forget that it will knacker them for sure! I am currently back on the old Gummi Pflege and they are quiet today but I know that it will not last. I'll have to see if I can get some Carbaflo KSP 105 and hope that fixes them.
