Potential Group Buy for Powerchip (Toronto)
I have recently spoke to Mike@Powerchip regarding a tune for my car.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/member.php?u=37951 If we have a few cars interested we can possibly have a discounted group buy. All 1 and 3-series have tunes available for them. If you have any questions regarding the gains feel free to PM Mike. The more people we have the lower the price, and the quicker he can send his flash kit over here. We can organize a date where we meet up with the flash kit and have our cars read and sent back to Mike. So whoever is interested, put your name on this list and we can go from there. If you don't know your engine type and ecu type, then just feel free to put your car model and year. 1.) DimSum 2007 (N52B25 E90 MSV80) 2.) jredor 2007 (E92 328i) 3.) 4.) 5.) and so on... Software tune, your looking around 15-20hp gain as usual with all tunes for our N52 motors. But paired with some other mods, you will be looking at higher figures, maps can be optimized for specific 93/94 octane from what I read on powerchip. I think Mike will chime in on this thread in a bit.

hi guys,
other than the fact that this is purely a software upgrade, can anyone explain why one would get this as opposed to say, a JB3? i'm not that well versed when it comes to performance mods. thanks, jigga |

I'd be interested know more about this, granted some dealers are mod friendly..but for them to send cars out for tuning - must be a great dealer. Are the cars they send out still under warranty? Will they back you if anything f's up?

+1 but I really don't believe dealers would send a BMW under warranty, maybe after the warranty is done, for the main reason, if my dealer send me to a guy like this and he messed up my car I would go back to that dealer and demand them to fix my car! Dealer would have law suits on there hands if they did this.

I'm now on my second tune because I did not like my AA 1.5 at all, I'm now running an ESS tune because of the reviews and results people have posted. If you could provide such information, I'm sure you'll get interested parties.

Actually, that sounds pretty sweet! But that's not the case. It's Powerchip selling the tune, not Mike himself. So I still gotta pay the same price everyone pays. I could have gone with AA @ bimmersport, but a friend of mine already has and I would like to go a different route and compare .

If youre looking at thisone for a 335i(anything with the n54) I wouldnt recommend it, because a flash tune will always be more detectable than a piggyback, since the piggyback trick the ecu, compared to this that actually reprograms the whole ecu and bmw is able to see when the latest software was loaded. |

Ultimately a tune is much better than a piggy, but of course piggybacks are made for convenience and ease of use sake. I know someone who went from JB3 to COBB Tuning and noticed a huge difference in power delivery and the car was much smoother off the line. Anyways, this thread was not made to compare piggybacks to tunes. It's a group buy. If you want to discuss the differences between a tune and piggybacks, leave the conversations for this section: http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=58 |

Good luck with the modding Ps: Just go with a bms powerbox, intake and exhaust. Youll save a lot and gain as much power. |

The BMS Powerbox dyno's in at 10whp already. I'm not sure why I won't get 15whp from a tune. If you ask anyone who knows something about ECUs will tell you ultimately that a tune is far more superior than a piggyback that simply alters signals. |
