I always thought "I lock the doors in case I'm attacked" is the radio edit. "I lock the doors in case I get drunk." is the album/live version.

Nope. The original studio album version (Joe Walsh, "But Seriously Folks") uses back/attacked. Trunk/Drunk appears on the first "Eagles Live" album (1980) and presumably other live recordings.
