did your friend give an indication on why he acted like an idiot? FYI....if you have your pilot's certification, NEVER take this guy up with you or make sure he's sitting in the back seat with handcuffs on.

I wouldn't let him ride in my car again, make him drive from now on. Yeah, I agree, I think your car should be fine

For those who are wondering I have a manual if that makes any difference. (I would think it'd be better if anything for it to happen on a manual than an auto)
dude, MAN UP and get your friend back!! next time you are in his '06 330xi, reach your left foot in the driver side foot well and stomp on the accelerator. as he is trying to kick your foot away press the Start/Stop button, and pull on his steering wheel. after your friend craps himself ask him calmly "how do you like it????"

You shouldve asked him which finger did he use to touch your shiet, he'll give you the middle finger in which you grab it and break it!

BMW made a fix to this in an update so now when I press my button, it warns me that I'm in gear and won't shut off.
Now I haven't tried it three times in a row or pressed it down for three seconds but I'll give it a shot.

The interesting thing about this is that in the manual, it says that it's a safety function that it won't allow the car to shut off... I tested it and WRRROOONNNGGG... it shut off.

What's this thing with doing things for three seconds or three times anyways? It's like saying "candyman" three times. Is there an evil rule of three that I'm not aware of?
So I checked this out during lunch and I can confirm that my 2006 Step does not shut off even when pressing on the brake in D/DS/N whether it is 3 times, 5 times, 20 times or by pressing it in for over 3 seconds.

I'd take your car to the dealer and ask them to update your car

Please help me understand. Your power steering system died when you were making a turn and your 25 year old passenger presse the start/stop button 3 times?
No No...he pressed it 3 times quickly to be funny without thinking and curious as to see what would happen...and when the car shut off after the 3rd time...THEN the power steering started going away...As I was into a big turn...further fueling my anger...

I had a friend do that to me once, though not while moving. I was first in line at a stop light and he waited just until the light turned green then reached over and turned my key to off.

He walked home.

You should get an adult-sized child-restrain system for the passenger seat so that your friends don't try to mess with your car while your driving LOL
