For those looking to purchase the part and pay via paypal, please send me the full amount. The part cost $60 to make and Im paying for shipping and the bolts because they are minor costs and I dont care, but I need $60 to get the part made, not $57.96 (after paypal fee this is what i get). I dont usually care about a couple of dollars but i am already spending extra money to pay for shipping and for the bolts. I hope you guys can understand. Its just if everyone starts paying me $57.96 I am now loosing money and it doesnt make sense to even manufacture the parts (not to mention I have to drive around to pick them up and ship them). If you would like to mail a check to aviod the fee that is fine but obviously this will take longer. Or if you all would like I can just charge $62.04 and then there will not be a problem, either way I need $60 to get the part made unless we get a group buy going. Thanks everyone, -Tim

Update: I was experiencing a huge power loss from 1-4K..
I did not add a spacer.. I just replaced my MAF.. and the problem disappeared. Now I have LOADS of power before 4K and absolutely not a hint of surging.. rev's smoothly through the power band and the intake has definitely gotten a lot louder. Just an FYI for those people who are in the same boat as I was in. Hope this helps. |

The new MAF that I just put in today is filthy and is working perfectly.. Going to clean it off as well when I get a chance. I don't think the MAF position was ever the issue on my car. When I first installed it it ran perfectly until I messed around with the MAF.. now with the new MAF it is perfect again. Also, raising the MAF by .5 inches isn't going to stop the filter from dirtying it FYI.. over-oiled filters will still leak oil onto the raised MAF. because it will still be within the intake tube.. just slightly higher. |

So I'm just putting it out there that I was experiencing the IDENTICAL power surging issue (no power below 4K) and power surge exactly as the rev's hit 4K. I also know that plenty of people were running fine with the AFE Stage 2 intake that had NO problems despite the MAF placement. So I'm just telling people that the MAF placement might not necessarily be the cause of this power-surge. One way to tell is to disconnect the MAF and drive around.. if the surging stops... then it is likely a dirty or damaged MAF as it were in my case... so I doubt the spacer would help. I found it weird that only a few people had this issue resolved with a MAF spacer while the majority of AFE Intake buyers had no issues whatsoever with the stock intake. I would first THOROUGHLY check for Vacuum Leaks and then your MAF.. before opting for a custom spacer solution. Just my experience.. hope this helps. |

I'll see how it is with the spacer. If the sensor really is the culprit then so be it. I just seem to think that it is because I've been getting CEL with fuel mixture too rich In both banks. I never had that problem until the intake so personally I believe that it's the spacer fix that will help. Also I switched over to a dry filter and it helped a little bit. Like I said the problem is different for everyone

Correct, we had no issues with the stock intake, only started having problems when we switched to the aFe intake. This is due to the height of the MAF sensor. If the MAF sensor is the problem, you will have issues regardless of what kind of intake you have.

months now..anyway I hope this works because I am not in favor of throwing away $300. Waiting for some confirmations that it does fix the issue before I throw down more cash on this intake... |

Will I need to seal off the aluminum spacer once I install it? Or should it be all good to go. And will I need to remove my original rubber gasket from aFe or will it go over the spacer

If you are mounting aluminum to plastic I would def seal it. I would use rubber or use high temp rtv. Does the MAF sensor oring fit inside this new spacer like it does in the tube?

Recently installed an aFe kit on my E90. Would like to try this solution to maximize performance and location of the MAF.
Thanks Tim, will PM you and also sent email.

I'm gonna stop by an auto store and pick up some wiper fluid and MAF cleaner. Is this what I will need as well? |
